Boxpark 'fans' v fans at games

Posted by EastEnderUser icon on 25/9/2026, 06:30:37

Average age of 'fans' watching England games in Boxpark is probably 19.

Average age of Season Ticket holders at Premier and EFL games is probably late 40's / early 50's.

The demographic who throw beer in the air to celebrate a goal are not exactly in the majority at games and most of the Boxpark beer throwers have probably never been to an actual live game in their lives.

The stuff at Boxpark is performative. If there were no cameras then nobody would do it.
I get both sides of the argument, I've yet to be covered in Boxril when a goal goes in. But there will be tits who want to throw beer around because it might mean a few likes on Insta.
At the big cricket venues there are alcohol-free areas. That can be replicated in football, e.g. safe-standing areas can have alcohol, family areas can't, and the other areas pick and choose depending on layout.

I think the practical outworkings of it will be key and I think there definitely should be areas where alcohol isn't allowed but the blanket ban currently in place is wrong on so many levels. We can't go back to the 70s though selling cans and bottles at the kiosks and using them as weapons though.

        Exactly.

Drama queens all thinking they are going to get soaking wet every time a goal goes in.

Lots of assumptions there which may or may not be true. Ive always thought the ban on alcohol consumption in sight of the pitch to be utterly ridiculous and unfair. I remember sneaking a bottle of Theakston Old Peculiar into the Lamb Ground at Tamworth during our conference days. I didn't throw it in the air when we scored.

Not that many assumptions regarding ages - with ST waiting list, v few new fans can buy one, so the average age of ST holders goes up by 1 most years.
