    Rodney Bewes (The Likely lads)

Posted by RobinUser icon on 15/9/2026, 12:35:44

Was just looking at Wiki, as watched the likely lads recently and someone mentioned there was a conection with Luton.

Turns out his family moved to Luton when he was young, and he went to Stopsley School - never knew that

Lyrics of the theme quite apt

It's not meant to help but perhaps entertain and possibly an antidote to politics, holibobs and foodie posts.

He went to school with my dad at st Matthews I believe

My dad loaned him his German bayonet and never got it back

My dad said he was at Stopsley same time as Bewes, no reason to doubt him as both the same age, although my dad was only there a short time before he went boarding to Bedford.

Anyone know how long he lived in Luton for? Wiki just says that he moved away once his health recovered

I can recall the episode where he was telling Terry about his Honeymoon, stated flight was delayed, and had to spend his first night in Luton..
                …… “there’s not a lot do in Luton “

Wonder if that was his idea to include Luton in the script.

                Hasn’t changed much

Yes, and there are ways of saying it.

However, his reply to someone’s post comes across as being somewhat smug.

                        Do you not agree?

Why are you obsessed with him? (You obviously are)

I thought it was a boorish comment by him too, but surely best ignored if he gets under your skin so much?

Guess it’s his attitude in general, winds me up.

Probably what he wants to be fair and you make a valid point.
