It's gonna vary massively based on our ages and eras supporting.
For me, id narrow down to two.
1 Ross Barkley. Simply because he is the best player i have ever seen wear the shirt.
2. Kevin Nicholls for being the driving force behind the early 00's revival.

Mal would hae to be up there on any list. Harford is also a great call, he still benefits us today.

I would probably go with Mal although you could possibly make a case for Mick Harford because of the impact that he has had on the club not just as a player.

In terms of the greater impact on the club over the years I would agree that Mick would rate as our best ever signing. My reply was perhaps more based on the price we paid. Mick cost £250,000, whereas Mal was £20,000 and Brian next to nothing and a friendly match at Edgware.
I guess a victim of the time that has passed between his time playing and now but remarkable really how little acclaim it feels Syd Owen gets for his playing career here.
Captained us to a FA Cup Final, which if it weren't for some meddling by the selection committee we probably should have won, and won FWA Player of the Season whilst doing so.
I think him winning the Football of the Year award is certainly the most remarkable individual achievement by any Luton player, especially when you consider he was 37. Also when you consider the era he was playing in - Tom Finney, Danny Blanchflower, Stanley Matthews, Nat Lofthouse et al.
John Moore is probably second on my list, given his many roles over the years within the club and that he was the manager who took the Town to their highest ever League position (probably never to be beaten).
Interestingly Syd’s transfer fee would have been approximately £9,500, whilst John’s would have been £1700 (if inflation were taken into account) compared to Brian’s £3000 transfer fee in 1977.
