    One for the stattos

Which 2 luton players if you combined their careers at the club would have the longest unbroken run.

They must have played together at least once.

My guess is Ricky Hill & Marvin Johnson

Changed my mind, Ricky Hill and Brian Stein

the total span on years, they would have played together for a decade, whereas Marvin and Ricky would have only crossed for a year or so

Hill is nailed on but Steiny beats Marv 388 to 373 so Hill and Stein combined is 15 more than Hill and Johnson

The question is about the longest unbroken run i.e. start year for the 1st player and final year for the 2nd player, not the most combined appearances of two players who played together.

I think you need to read the question again yourself.

Ricky Hill was the first one to start his playing Luton career in 1976 and Brian Stein was the last to finish at Luton of the two in 1992.

Whereas Ricky Hill and Marvin Johnson combined playing career streak is 1976 to 2002.

Even if you factor in Brian Stein coaching roles, there's a gap from 1992 until 1999 when Ricky Hill returned as manager.

2000 for Ricky Hill's return as manager, not 1999.

That whole late 90s period up until the 2001/02 season is just one depressing blur of hopelessness merged into one in my mind.

yeah i'm talking about an unbroken run as players.

I make Ricky and Marv 27 years

not having to play together the whole time, but combined via an overlap

To be completely accurate, Ricky Hill and Brian Stein's unbroken streak combined actually ends in 1989.

James Shea maybe with Ricky ?

Fred Allen/Fred Hawkes and Tip Brown/Fred Hawkes hold the record jointly (1892-1920).

If you're allowing for players with two spells at the club then Mitchell Thomas and Alan White hold the post war record.

                    Here's the top 30.

Mitchell Thomas and Alan White two spells at the club each don’t anll overlap though, so it isn’t an unbroken run.

Then yes, the answer is Ricky Hill and Marvin Johnson.

If you also exclude the break for WW1 then they have the overall record.
