    Formula for promotion

We need a holding midfielder badly, someone who can guard the back 3 or 4 depending on formation. We have to sort the defence out now as number 1 priority.

Naismith is probably the only player that could do that, maybe Odoffin too but he’s cemented a CH space.

Last time we won this division we were horrible to play against, pressed, put a foot in, won battles etc Teams that tippy tapped got steam rollered.

Saville was brought in for that role but it didn’t work out. Naismith could work but one mistake and the abuse starts. Thought Gore was a clever signing getting the opposition to see double in thinking we have two Liam Walshes on the pitch 😬.

But seriously we have to build up some confidence and get the players believing in themselves. During pre season we believed we had a good squad capable of challenging for promotion and the relationship between the team/club and fans was improving. Still think we can turn it around IF we keep getting behind the team and don’t go down the toxic route. Negativity in the stands spreads to the players.

At least he’ll be far enough from the goal that it maynot always be another gifted goal from him.
I think with our current players it’s worth a shot, what have we got to lose.
I don’t think Jack thinks there’s an issue though, but hopefully the penny will drop if results do t pickup.

Didnt Arsenal have defence midfielders back In the day?

Agree with all of that. Signing Gore as our CDM looks a costly mistake as last night proved it is literally men against a boy, and he’s got no chance. Playing Wlash there doesn’t work either as he gets caught on the ball too much and loses possession.

Your third paragraph is also spot on. Our board were In charge the last time we got promotion from league one, they also know and saw what will and won’t work, so why they’ve chosen a manager whose approach is tippy tappy football, and only tippy tappy football, is odd.

        League one again ole ole
