If your glass is half full I dread to think what you're like when it's half empty.

I find it mental that people have decided to completely dismiss the last 15 games of last season. When we get things settled we'll be fine.

What about the 15 games prior to that or the 6 league games this season (which is surely far more relevant right now).
Yes we went on a decent run but still came up short.
We look powder puff and frankly clueless with no strength upfront as an outlet.
Good for you being so positive but I just don't see us having a hope in hell of automatic promotion this season.
I think we'll really struggle to make the play offs tbh.
With the position we were in 3 years ago, it's been a spectacular and ongoing failure.
This surely points right to the top where, in most businesses, not only would questions have been asked but significant changes made.

I mean, it's pretty mental to judge Wilshere on the first 15 games of his managerial career rather than the second 15 where he'd learned more about the league and got the players to understand his playing style.

We're just short of promotion form so far his season AFTER SIX GAMES FFS. Come back after 25 and if we're still struggling, then I'll apologise and say you were right.

If he learned so much from the second 15, why are we so poorly set up and conceding so much this season i.e continual problems.
Current form is surely more important than last season.
We are not just short of promotion form. Look at the table after this weekend when everyone has played 6 games.
8 points from 6 equates to a little over 60 points over 46 games. That's nowhere near promotion or the play offs.

Because we have new players to bed in and injuries to key players.

And yes, we're just short of promotion form.
If Mads clears the ball on Saturday we win that game and are on 10 points 3rd in the league (Which is why it's folly to make any judgements until 15 games or so in. This stage last season both Lincoln and Bolton were mid table.

                WUM

Do Sheffield Wednesday not have any new players to bed in?

It's a fair point. But again, it's six games in, and the Wednesday fans I know (I used to live up there) admit they've been pretty lucky in a couple of their wins.

But we are so poorly set up with no strength in the team, no power upfront and that's on Jack and his team.
I admire your optimism, I really do and truly hope you are right.
I am very concerned tbh that we don't have the personnel to be right up there this season.
I'd be delighted to be completely wrong and we romp to automatic promotion.

I think Marhsall has strength and power. And Palmer brings that as well (It's just a shame he's been off it since the Reading game)

Problem is it can't continually be the managers fault. Somewhere along this depressing line we have to look elsewhere.

I think it’s well too soon to be thinking of changing manager, let Jack use these eight days to sort it out on the training field!

How long is it until Clark is back? Hopefully Ashby is back at least.

A repeat of last season v a very good Bradford side would be nice.

He has been trying to play this way for 11 months, what makes you think he may change that in the next 8 days?
These are his tactics, his pattern of play, no way will he abandon them.

I’m not expert but would say nothing wrong with tippy-happy if you have the weapons. Badly missing a player who can take the midfield area by the scruff of the neck. A Kevin Nicholls or Sean Gregan (one of the best league 1 midfielder generals in last 30 years that I know of)

Need to be getting the ball moving quicker and stop all this sideways..chuckle brothers “to me… to you” at the back.

Sadly we are not producing much via JJ or Jones, they can’t beat their man, if they do the end result is nothing. Come back Marty Taylor!

We also need that Palmer of last season back asap. As I say, I hope Clark and Ashby are back quick.

And yet, we missed the play offs by a whisker, and tbh if we had got to Wembley , not one of those teams would have wanted to play us.
Didn’t hear many complaints about tippy tappy then..?

Missing the play offs in League One, whether by a whisker or a mile, is failure. He took over in October and oversaw a properly grim winter run of form.

I like him, not calling for his head, but I don't think he has a lot in the bank and he'll be sackable if we lose 3 or 4 in a 5 or 6 game period, like any manager. That was the case for Bloomfield last year who also finished the previous season well and missed survival "by a whisker".

Surely we can praise the run in without pretending the same approach right now is good enough to get us promoted this season when it didn't last year?

That's a fair point and difficult to argue with, but I think anyone who thinks this style of football will get us out of this league is misguided, its just too easy to play against. The build ups are too slow and predictable and allow the opposition to get organised.

Palmer was a massive influence on that run in, he looks a shadow of that player, if he isn't fit, take him out for a month and get him fit.
Another year older for Wells, he looks more out of his depth, leading scorer or not.
Morris pace on the right getting behind a defence is a massive miss in the last 20 minutes, again an important player on last seasons run in.

It's a poor division, uncompromising strength, commitment, desire, organisation and determination will win over light weight "tippy tappy" football.
