    Joe Johnson

LWB is not his natural position (I’m not sure what is), but you may as well play a traffic cone at LWB. Passed it backwards every time.

Really dull, horrible game of football. Cannot understand why we didn’t give Wells and Marshall a go together upfront.

Said it last year, he's just not good enough. He's a league 2 player at best. Gets away with it because of his attachment to the club. Not a patch on Cohen Bramal, still unsure why we got rid of him tbh.

      OK Coach.

According to a pal of mine who has a ST at Franchise, Bramhall has been dogshit. A lot of those lot dont rate him at all. Plus he is injured again.

As much as it pains me to say it, being ‘one of our own’ etc, I just don’t think he’s got enough pace and physicality. He went backwards more times than Hashioka last night.

I think JJs confidence is shot to be honest. Played well at Chelsea but then not even on the bench for the next few games only to be chucked in today in a system that doesn’t suit him.

                Disagree

It's a weird one because he was playing against Chelsea who obviously have better players than Stevenage and he did ok. But the reason he did ok was that absolutely nothing was expected of him going forwards. He could sit deep and be safe all night, knowing he wasn't being asked to bomb forward. But against lesser players more is expected of him going forward. But I just don't think he's good enough to do that even in League 1

His best (only) position is left centre back. He cannot play anywhere else and I don't think he will help us back to the C'ship nor help us stay there

Yeah I agree. He's actually good going forward from LCB. But he's not going to take people on and get a cross in. Was a poor choice to start him there.

He has obvious ability but I think he needs someone to link the play with on the flanks rather than bomb forward but with 5 at the back he assumes a defensive role and has no passing options when the midfielders are all marked or doubled up on. I don’t think he’ll feature for a while, efl trophy apart. Like I said he’s low on confidence but he’s not alone there.

A bit like the club in general, he has no playing identity. I have no idea what he's supposed to be

With 5 at the back, I'd have thought that would give him license to get forward more, not less. I just don't think he has the athleticism or vision to do that

He played in a couple of our PL games and was capped by England at U19 level so you would expect him to have developed more. Feel he needs more first team football if not with us then maybe a loan.

Hashioka played in some of our Prem games!

Being an U19 international is a good achievement but many a player who has represented his country at age rep level has failed to truly make it

A loan might help but you can only be as athletic as your body will allow. I just don't think that, physically, he can get much better. A shame. One of the many 'nearly' ones who don't quite get there

I don't take any glee from saying that and maybe we're convincing ourselves that he might make it because our academy has produced next to nothing for years now and we desperately want success to emerge from the youth system

+1. He’s bang average, but a lot of our fanbase are blinded by the fact he’s an academy player. I can’t see what he actually offers, other than the balance of being naturally left footed?!

Our academy is producing next to nothing. What value is the academy actually providing?

Maybe Fox, Benagr and Luker will change our fortunes

Sad indictment for our youth system, but true.

He could play central midfield better than the awful duo of Walsh/Gore, which doesn’t work!

But I fear you’re right, he’s just not quite good enough.

Gore and Walsh together are so shit. Like playing with two drunk baby crabs in the middle of the park. Get totally bullied.

Walsh tries and Tbh I like him but he has at least one man on him every time.

Forgot gore was playing and if he wasn't on the pitch I'm not sure it makes any difference.

They're too similar though and we need a physical type

Majority on this board knew we needed a strong, combative midfielder brought in but we get Gore.

Don’t agree with that, Walsh was trying to play forwards. Gore I think will come good and there’s no harm having someone in there who keeps it simple but he does need to be more physical, especially in games like this.

                                Just nonsense.

We will not get out of this league with two tiny players in central midfield.

Walsh looks pretty sometimes and I grant you, he occasionally tries to get forward but also slows it down and plays the bullshit possession game that is sending us into the abyss.

Gore or Walsh could work next to an athletic and physical central midfielder. Not together. Just shite.
