    Another Sweet experiment

Posted by NinjaUser icon on 10/9/2026, 22:27:11

    Gone wrong.

Another young manager allowed to come in and waste money and resources to play to an unproven style.

Tonight and Mansfield demonstrated how far we are off being a competitive side. Far too weak, passive and can’t play forwards. Teams put together on a shoe string looking better than us, individually and collectively.

Jack has no idea of his best team or formation or how to change a game either. Even before the worrying fact that he’s signed a load of small technical players that are getting bullied.

We need some leaders and physicality before we get pushed towards the relegation places.

Jack needs to swallow his pipe dream ego playing style and quick.

So not losing for 3 months at the end of last season, and playing some really good football was just a fluke. Cool.

Jack is serving a managerial apprenticeship, he won't be qualified until next season at the earliest. We will not be going up as fucking champions or through the play offs this season

            Correct.

Massive gamble though isn’t it? Particularly when his ego is so big and we don’t seem to be adapting.

We didn’t need a managerial apprenticeship, we needed some experience and steel to sort out our mess.

Totally agree, the club was in such a mess and we needed an inexperienced manager after Bloomfield departed. God knows where we go from here, do we stick with Jack in the hope that he comes good? I think the problem stems from Nathan, he was a big gamble that paid off big time, but the thing with gambles is that they often go wrong.

I think we have to stick and hope to hell he’s learning and he’s getting held to account!

Isn’t that why Powell was taken on to help with that.
Mind you after his interview tonight we’ve no chance of sorting this mess out.
To many players think they are to good for league 1 and don’t put a shift in that’s required at this level.

He does see HIS best formation but I’m yet to see him change the game this season when we haven’t been getting any joy. That for me is how managers show what they’re made of.

We’ve had two different formations this season. One with a back four and one a back five.

He’s totally confused and the recruitment hasn’t prepared for either 🤣

For a manager who’s been here eleven months, had a decent run towards the end of last season and was then very well backed in the transfer window, it’s hard to understand why things still feel so disjointed and lacking.

It’s all just a bit shite.

Still early days but got to improve and quickly.

That’s the frustrating thing isn’t it. After that time, we’d expect to see improvements but recent weeks have been as bad or even worse than Bloomfield.

I said on here a few times last season a taxi was required for Jack. He isn’t the man for the job. Especially as he wants to play the tippy tappy way, which doesn’t work against the physical teams in this league. There’s no plan B at all. No proper, good enough left back or LWB in the squad. Our movement is far too slow a lot of the time, which means the ball then goes sideways and backwards, Walsh is giving the ball away a lot, and our defending is comical.

We rallied a bit at the end of last season, but apart from those 10-12 games it’s been quite un inspiring.

                  Agreed.

Walsh and Gore together looked like 12 year olds against the Stevenage central midfield. Bullied and scared.

Opposition will have no fear of us at all now, we’ve got no bite or physicality.

No bite. No bollocks. No urgency. No plan B, and a weak left side.

Yes the ref was shit tonight. But we did nowhere near enough to win the game.
