I just love the moaning of those expats in Spain who voted for Brexit but never bothered to learn the language, they enjoy their English breakfast in the sunshine etc and now find their lovely blue passport means they are caught by the 90 day rule.

A perfect example of shooting yourself in the foot

If they support themselves or own property over 500k euros then it’s irrelevant…which I suspect is the majority of those expats you are trying to ridicule.

You should have found something on YouTube ….you might have got it right then .

True, but the 500k property is a rule for Brits hoping to move to Spain now and will exclude the majority of expats hoping to live in a 200-300k apartment.

There must be thousands of expats already in Spain who where not aware (through their own ignorance) of the consequence of the Brexit vote on their right to live in Spain was in effect cancelled.

Not if they support themselves they can stay…and the Spanish want there money…do you know anyone who has been kicked out ?

Btw I partly agree with you that many who voted to leave didn’t think about the freedom it gave them.

I don't think this applies to Brits who want to move to Spain after the time when Brits could apply for residence as part of the Brexit agreement. I have a really good friend, (who happens to be my ex-wife!!) who has more than enough to support herself but she still falls foul of the 90 day rule.

Hold up a minute, are we having a reasonable discussion about this? 😁

I'll happily acknowledge I don't know all the ins and outs of residing in Spain and I guess you'd say the same but neither of use are going to spend an hour googling to find the exact situation !!

I think it's a good score draw but let's not bother with extra time 🤣🤣

Fair enough I think the Brits that were there up until sometime in 2021 were ok and you can still take up residency if you either buy a property or can evidence you can support yourself.

I was really surprised that those people not living in the UK could vote on Brexit …had a an argument with my wife’s uncle who had just moved to Australia but a firm leaver…I thought WTF has it got to do with you …you don’t even live here anymore…probably a bit unreasonable.

I see what you're saying!! But I suppose if Brits that were abroad are qualified to vote in a Gen Election they could vote in the referendum!!

Is this a discussion where we have mixed opposing views but we can come to the same conclusion that "it's fucked" 😁

I don’t think we do on Brexit …I voted remain although I think it was as black and white as people suggest.
I am also not 100% convinced we aren't better of out of it…think the eu has huge problems and certain countries get way to much out of it.

I flew through Singapore and Cape Town airports with my UK passport, so I can't see what the problem is.

Obviously I have my Irish passport. Thankfully. And because of me, my kids are both eligible too. My poor wife is currently stuck with her British one.

I think we can all agree on your poor wife 😂😂

The Irish passport ( which I can have ) has lost it’s advantage now countries have realised pussing off UK tourists isn’t a good idea .

Traveling into Nice airport a couple of weeks back the European line was considerably longer than the UK one…of course travelling further afield it’s irrelevant…coming into the US it’s shit for everyone who doesn’t have a US passport…although looking at the global entry system which might solve the problem.

Iv` had mixed experience since thy put in the new rules (which aren't designed to piss off the UK traveller - but a consequence of brexit)

Vilnus was a nightmare. Taking an average of 5 minutes to process a passenger. Took about an hour. And just as bad on the way back - would have missed teh flight if it wasnt delayed (2 UK flights at the same time and passport control at the gates)

Riga - seemed a bit quicker but an empty flight

Rhodes - greeks had "opted out" as they are allowed to up till now - no issues

Zagreb - a queue but not too bad - they dint do the fingerprint stuff

Fuertaventura, Berlin and Lodz yet to be tested

Getting out too is a problem. I fly regularly in and of Düsseldorf - T2 always used to be the departure zone, it’s now T3.
(if you’re flying BA). If there’s flights departing for Istanbul or Dubai around the same time (often A330’s and A380’s then write off an hour just to get seen by an immigration official and stamped out.

Rynair - (not much choice with Stanstead being them nearest major airport) - cant see them being quicker
