The original price we bought him for was widely reported as 3.6 million euros. Whether that’s correct or not is anyone’s guess. Rather like the price we are allegedly selling him for.

Though officially undisclosed by Luton, at the time of the transfer Norwegian news outlet VG claimed the deal was at least 40 million kroner (£2.8million). It is now being reported by TV2 that that fee was 35 million kroner (around £2.5million)

I had a figure of £2 million in my head and, when discussing it with someone earlier this afternoon, I said that we have done well if it happens at that price as we will have just about got our money back when you add in the loan fee that we would have got.
I don't recall 3.5 million (£ or Euros) being mentioned.

2 million up front plus add ons i believe. So a 300k loss on a player JW didnt fancy. Thats not terrible for a panic buy in the championship. I`d have liked to see him given more of a chance of course, but if not cut minimal losses

So like I said, the actual fee is anyone’s guess, no one outside the club actually knows. That’s 3 reported / rumoured fees in three posts, maybe the lowest one is correct, maybe the highest one is.

I was stating a fee that was widely reported in the local Norwegian media at the time and by the Norwegian journalist who broke the story (up to 3.6M euros, about 3.2M without add-ons). The Lutonian journalist quoted the Norwegian journalist! Also I clearly stated that what the exact fee was is anyone’s guess. What seems fairly clear is that we’ve made a transfer fee loss, how much nobody knows for certain.

The quoted figures, in pounds, do not translate to those you're quoting in euros, to be pedantic.
But no, I wasn't aiming it at you specifically but the poster suggesting a huge loss as fact.
It was a deal that didn't work out for us, that's for certain. And not the only one, in the past or no doubt in the future. It happens, some poor buys were certainly made - as at every club. Hopefully we're now back on course, but it has been a painful and costly experience for sure.

General consensus was we paid £3.5m for him. No one has ever really said otherwise. With a signing on fee and, I image, very reasonable wages, it's not our clubs finest hour. But good to see Jack continuing to get round of the deadwood.

Where there's a void in communication(undisclosed fee in this instance) the void is usually filled with rumours. That argument has been done to death though. It wouldn't surprise me if the 3.5 was correct given the money we were spending/wasting at the time.
Not many left to shift now. I expect Mengi, Walters and Holmes to all go elsewhere very soon.
Then it's all about pissing the 3rd division.
