Looks like Abdulmalik from Boreham Wood is doing an Alexander Isak

Posted by Kent HatterUser icon on 26/8/2026, 14:23:45

"🚨 BREAKING: Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter has issued an update on the Abdulmalik transfer situation in his programme notes for tomorrow's game.

Hunter says he feels he must “stand up to outside noise, to see passive-aggressiveness for what it is” - and says recent press leaks “are unhelpful to all concerned as they unsettle the player unnecessarily and just add to the noise, the me, me, me culture and poor behaviour.”

On Abdulmalik’s current situation, Hunter says:

🗣️ “Abdul is refusing to train with us or play, though he is still very much our player and has two years left on his contract.”

Hunter says Abdulmalik has “downed tools” and adds:

🗣️ “If I was a betting man, and I’m not, I would expect, when the transfer window closes next Tuesday, that an unhappy Abdul will still be with us.”

Hunter says the club’s valuation has already been reduced by £350k, but the door remains open:

🗣️ “If the buying club wants to agree the add-ons and finalise a transfer agreement, then let’s get on with it, as I’m ready and waiting.”

The stronger the team, the stronger the team.

To be fair, he signed for Borehamwood on a free, and they've turned down 1.5m, which is what, e0%of their total revenue? Roughly.

And this would let him play top flight football for a team that got to the latter stages of a European competition.

His statement on it is very fair, I think. It's a massive step up for him and not an opportunity that comes round every day.

Don't blame him for wanting the move tbh

Don't blame him for wanting the move, but there is a proper way of going about it - and this isn't it. Get out on the pitch and show the bidding club why they should increase their offer! Certainly wouldn't want him at our club, based on this behaviour.

I agree he shouldn't be refusing to train or play but equally his statement seems fair enough.

If I was a promising young player I wouldn't be signing for Borehamwood based on this

They aren't preventing him moving, they have said that they are willing to do a deal if a club meets their valuation. He signed a contract with them, they don't have to sell him for less than they think he's worth just because he wants the move.

Also, if I was a promising young player, I might look at how they have reignited his career and think they could do the same for me - but if I'm smart, I might negotiate a release clause in my contract so that this sort of thing doesn't happen.

Their asking price has to be reasonable though. Can't exactly turn round to him and say 'we'll sell you at our valuation, which is 50m'

1.5m is mental for non league

£1.5 million rejected, yet valuation lowered by £350,000. What an obscure amount to lower your valuation by! Not sure I'd want to deal with the "new agent" or the chairman based on what has been reported.

      How good is Abdulmalik?

Is it Luton sniffing around and unsettling the player?
