I'm just watching a video by a travelling couple (with 457k subs) about travelling in Iran
The taxi driver has said petrol is $3 for 100 litres and it's subsidised by the government (Obviously)
The vloggers are saying all the people they meet are so friendly.

Beautiful country with a wonderful culture going back 5,000 years, with a despicable, murderous regime loathed by 80% of their population. God knows if we'll ever see the back of their awful leadership.

I'm sure the people are friendly. It's just the regime and its backward stance on women's rights.
Why the deletions??

What a way to spend your retirement. I'm off to London shortly, maybe use the time I'm not posting to do something meaningful with your life. Following me round this messageboard really isn't good for your mental health Mildred.
Yep. You got me. Sad nob sack 🤣. All that abuse and anger. You love to give it but can’t take it. Think you are the one with the issues. If I were you I’d give up on the hypocrisy. It will really help you.

The current regime is the result of the UK USA etc interfering in the country to maintain access to the oil.

According to Google the UK hasn't bought any oil from Iran since 1979 and the US only made a handful of transactions in the 1980s. Therefore would you mind elaborating on your assertion please?

Here's a quick history lesson for you.
In 1953 the UK & USA engineered the overthrow of the popular Iranian Leader Mosedech(sp) and installed the Shah. Mosedech was voted into power declaring that the countries oil belonged to the nation as it was being plundered by the Anglo American Oil Company (which became BP).
The Shah regime soon turned into dictatorship with the countries Police and Army killing 10's of thousands of Iranian's. This is why, after 26 years, the people stood up to the Shah's regime and this was the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the Ayatollah took power.

I know all that. I thought, mistakenly, you were implying that the UK, US and others were propping up the current regime in order to get access to Iranian oil, which obviously is the opposite of what appears to be going on. Although I would not be surprised if it's a lot more complicated than the average person on the street thinks it is. Bearing in mind the amount of time it has taken the British government to proscribe the IRGC, which they still haven't done exactly but have done something akin to that, sort of. I know the Yanks were in secret talks with the regime under Khomeni, despite his very public claims to the opposite. A bit like Thatcher's secret negotiations with the IRA that were vehemently denied at the time.
I do agree the Shah was a knob. He blew the annual public budget on a one off lavish party that was the final straw according to a documentary I saw once. I think it was Storyville, it's probably still on I player now.

Haven't they just murdered an estimated 36,500 Iranian nationals?

That's never been verified.
What has been verified is that groups of protesters where armed and encouraged by Mossad. It wasn't a case of Iranian forces killing unarmed protesters (although this obviously did happen)
Posted by Poster from the past on 26/8/2026, 17:40:34, in reply to "Re: Iran."
Why hasn't it been verified? Is it because the regime only allowed people in who would peddle their version of events after the alleged massacres in January and simultaneously enacted a total internet blackout. Which seems a bit odd if they don't have anything to hide.
