    Power Court latest

    Posted by LTFC39User icon on 10/8/2026, 07:50:45

Just watching the WN’s latest video this morning.

I understand that 28 April 2028 is the targeted handover date.

I really can’t see how this stadium completes by then. It would likelier be a race against time to complete within 2 weeks of the season start (with the first few games played away from home.)

I know it’s hot, but it sounds like the heat is starting to slow things down again. Not surprising at all, but surely the March to November period has to be the peak building period. Doesn’t feel like enough progress has been made this summer so far. WN states that Everton took around a year for the fit out to take place. I’m finding it hard to believe that the structure will be ready by April.

I was thinking earlier, that potentially LTFC moves into an incomplete stadium with certain areas blocked off or readied later in the 2028/29 season. Maybe starting with 3 stands at a capacity of around 19,000?

Happily to be proven wrong, absolutely.

I'm pretty certain at some point not that long ago it was suggested the basic stadium would be ready by summer 2027 and then the internal stuff would need doing. Or it might have been communicated as summer 2026. I can't remember. Either way it will take as long as it takes won't it? I'm fairly confident things will be ok.

outlaws is not the barometer of sanity. You're either Luton full tilt or you are nothing. We have spunked way too much money on shite. The end.

Really don’t understand the blind panic on here if the date slips back, look at what’s happened in the past to delay us( which in fact contributed to what we are now going to get)

I just think how lucky we are to not now be playing at Newlands.
Certain types on here are just waiting in the wings to post there negativity.
If it is 28/29 or whatever so be it.

Whatever the debt is, it will be sustainable, with the club still making a profit every year.

Its the level of profit that will suffer

Any debt wouldhave a knock on effect to other things though. Player budget being a big one I'd imagine.

Why should I cover the losses Stu? I'm not the one being happy with more delay and more cost/debt to the club

I'm sure the debt is sustainable and I'm delighted to hear you say it as someone on the inside. But that's the minimum to expect - the club would be being fucking reckless if it wasn't the case and they would be reviled forever if the debt turned out to be anything other than sustainable.

But why should we just take that on face value? As someone inside the club, feel free to use your reply to me to explain why fans shouldn't be worried by the debt (that originally wasn't going to exist). Or, at least, encourage your bosses to share some reassurances and answer the question - if not directly (I understand that might be difficult), then in some other way to get the message across. 'Cos I and many other fans are worried and understandably so

I think Luton fans have been through enough to feel that vague assurances are not very comforting. And before you get all angry, I am in no way saying that 2020 are Jayten or whatever other wanky ownership structure we've had in the past. But, let's be straight, Luton fans have never let anyone else off so lightly (regards the lack of questions) as we have let our current custodians off

As I say, I'm sure it's all fine but, if that is the case, just tell us about it. A fucking brilliant news story and it's all gone quiet over there

I think if there's an excusable delay, I think many will accept that, especially if communicated early enough. I look at the drainage issues or the delays caused by the power station - clear problems that probably couldn't have been foreseen.

I don't accept bad or ineffective project management. Because if I was the PM for my own company, I'd be accountable for that.

The sub-station move/removal and the river being rerouted around where the stadium never factored into the build schedule that they set out though, as that had been completed by the time they started the actual stadium construction in January.

The obvious issue they have run into is not realising the full extent of the sewage works that needed doing and that has resulted in the East Stand and North Stand area not being able to have any work done on it for most of the year.

So considering they've only been able to build 50% of the stadium for over 7 months, you would have expected them to progress further with those West and North stands in the mean time.

For example the West Stand isn't even built fully at 1st Floor level yet. They've go to concrete that all, then build new reinforced concrete pillars up to the second floor level, then concrete that floor, then do the same again for the 3rd floor and the 4th floor and the gantry level too!

Then you've got to do that on all the other stands, plus put a roof and halo on and the fit all the insides out and that's not to mention the public realm works of landscaping and opening up the river further that need to be completed.

Don't get me wrong I'm incredibly happy to see tangible progress being made and a stadium appearing before our eyes after waiting for this for decades, but having followed this build week-to-week I just can't see how they can get this ready for the 2028/29 season at the current pace they are building at.

We shouldn't have debt if we can help it, if that meant a slightly smaller stadium or something a little less flashy then so be it.

And of course they will say it will be sustainable, just like they said it wouldn't and shouldn't happen originally.

It's not negativity, it's genuine concerns. Are you standing the huge extra costs if it runs over schedule then? No, didn't think so.
We're all happy that the ground is happening but even a happy clapper like you must be at least slightly interested into how much debt we'll be in once this debt free stadium us built. A delay would only add to the debts.

No and that’s the point, I can worry about it ,but can’t do anything about it, so there’s no point in worring , or getting annoyed, if as you have suggested many times over the last months someone is lying, and communication is shit or whatever … again nothing I can do personally will change that.
I’ve just had a fantastic weekend at a wedding.

Just as well that, down the years, some people refused to adopt that attitude. We wouldn't have a club, otherwise

I'd rather be over-concerned and over-egg questions than be so laissez-faire about things especially with our history

As it happens, I think it'll all be ok but questions around the constant delays, where Limak have disappeared to - and why Capital Sky all of a sudden seem to be the lead contractor when they have no stadium-build experience - and what debt we will be in upon opening are all legitimate

The concerns you mention have been hanging around for a while now. I'm also intrigued to know what happened with the architects that were sueing 2020?
Despite the standard once every 6 months programme notes telling us the club know communication needs to Improve, there's been absolutely nothing regards getting answers.
Then there's the role of the 'independent' Trust, who surely should be asking the questions?
We've been told on here on numerous occasions when things have been asked to 'pay yer tenner and ask the trust'. Glad I didn't. Might aswell set fire to the tenner for what good it would have done.

Hopefully LLSC and the Trust will ask them and can go public with the responses. Absolutely zero point the club telling both those organisations stuff that they can't share widely. That'd be a waste of fucking time

As MC said, that's irrelevant now. The baseball stadium has the shell mostly done. Surely we should be at a similar stage given the similar completion times.

Our build may have taken longer overall because of those issues but from the perspective of someone who has no knowledge of building, surely we should be at similar stages now

That's actually a very powerful bit of context.

                                      Not comparing apples with apples.

Everton were pushing for a 2024 opening, but to derisk it, they pushed it back a year rather than move mid-season.

I think if they wanted to, they'd have moved in 6 months earlier than they did.

Thanks, yes that does change the context a tad 😊

We got our ground ready for the Premier League in approx 10 weeks. Have faith.

I know what you mean but if you look back to the videos from May the progress is there.

If it carries on like that for the next few months things will soon be taking shape (I hope)!

Happy to be proven wrong. 20 months is still a long time, so maybe I’m being premature. 100% the progress is there since the start of summer.

Also maybe that west stand given it’s got all the hospitality and offices in is going to be the biggest job construction wise.

The other 3 stands will hopefully go up much quicker.
