Still worried lack of height up front

Happy with Marshall signing, though is that good enough in this lump it division. Hopefully yes, though we struggled last season with diddy players. I know its easier said than done to get a target man, maybe a loan signing to get us up.

5 foot 11 is not diddy!

        It's not. He's not 5'11", though. He's a shade under 5'8".

Walsh and Stein didn't do so bad, in a higher division.

            Walsh 5 foot 7

            Bruno 5 foot 10

Marshall 5 11 he is not really diddy by any metric.

If he was 6 foot - one inch taller- he would be referred to as a tall centre forward

outlaws is not the barometer of sanity. You're either Luton full tilt or you are nothing. We have spunked way too much money on shite. The end.

I just don't think Wilshere wants a target man given the style of football and the formation he is trying to play.

My guess is that he prefers a forward who will drop deep and offer another passing option.

We're not going to be a 'lump it' team.

I wouldn't call it a lump it Division, clubs that play football will always be more successful.

Lincoln walked it last year playing lump it football

I think strength is more important than height. Look at Nordas, tall but not physically imposing and so opposition centre backs could push him around easily.
And as for what works in this division, I can't remember the Lincoln attackers being particularly tall.

                    He's 5 ft 11, he's hardly Jermain Defoe.

I still think Cole is worth a squad place, he's got a decent record at this level. Marshall, Wells and Cole are a decent trio with a mix of styles, youth vs experience, etc.

I thought exactly that about Cole at this level (he always looked a handful playing against us) until a coach mentioned that L1, L2 and Conference teams now play Pep-esque possession football meaning defences are now more organised, play closer together and the midfield cover is better so space is more difficult to find/create than when Cole was more prolific/impactful.

That noted, if you ignore the lack of goals and goal attempts, there's nothing stopping Cole from winning headers and making challenges in other parts of the pitch to feed a partner (Wells). Yet he disappoints with those aspects.

Cutting back to when Lawless was playing through some truly abysmal form, he still ran his socks off for the team even if he then forgot how to kick the ball when it was at his feet! Cole could contribute with the same approach as Lawless.

Would I like to see Cole turn it around? Of course I would as it would benefit the team and negate the need and expense of finding another solution. Do I think he can turn it around? Not convinced.

I thought Lawless turned it around when we started playing him at right back. I didn't think he was sharp enough in central midfield but was much better when he had a bit of room at full-back.

Also helped that we didn't have to do too much defending in that league.

From what I heard yesterday not sure Cole is part of Jacks plans. Suspect he may not be here for much longer if we can offload him.
