Gary Parker had a high quality career, hard to get a game with our midfield at the time.

Pembridge another who went on to have a long successful career.

Hartson also should be on the list.

I played in the same Luton Youth team as Andy when Pleat was the youth team coach. It was obvious that he was the only one who looked certain to make it. The only other one who the rest of us thought was good enough was a central defender called Giotano Castiella (phonetic spelling there) - I often wonder what became of him…

Thomas was the only player Pleat took to Spuds

Mr Clark was Mitchell Thomas' PE teacher at Lea Manor High School. He used to enjoy telling us that. He was incredibly strict, proper old school. I remember one time we spent the whole lesson getting changed into our PE kits and then back into school uniform because every time he came into the changing rooms someone was talking and we were supposed to be getting changed in silence. From uniform to PE kit to uniform to PE kit. All lesson Mr Clark also arranged legendary school trips to Spain and had a stall on Purley market selling sports gear. And he absolutely bollocked me once for graffiti. But he was fair. A good bloke. Bravo Mr Clark.

I also met Mitchell's brother Denzil once walking along Bramingham Road. He was a gentle giant with me but I know he had a reputation on Marsh Farm. There were loads of protective kids on Marsh Farm who had bad reputations but were actually very sound in other ways.

I'd add JJ and Tim Breaker to that list.

James Justin, obviously. And, while he wasn’t with us long, I thought Leon Barnett would go on to be even better than Curtis Davies when he emerged.

Yes, Bruce was an original Lutonian.

I would also mention Mark Pembridge and Ceri Hughes.

Matthew Jackson and Matt Upson for fleeting appearances before being sold on to make good careers

Paul Telfer and Darren Salton too - until his unfortunate accident.

Thorpe made his first team debut at Luton but his youth career was at Leicester
