One of the things about modern football that I don't really like - file under Pepple, McAtee, Taylor. Clearly a player a level below where the first team are aiming to be, but gambling that such a player may just have a purple patch and exceed expectations and the club make the money back on a fee, or a spot in the first team themselves.

Still don't know what to make of Alli, on his day, brilliant but he just seems incapable of putting a long run of 7+ performances together. Make him more consistent in those better performances and he'd still be a hell of an asset . . . but how long do you wait for that to happen?
Would be very happy to see Lawrence back though, really seemed to have something about him.

In fairness, we got that level of consistency from Alli when he first joined. But then Makosso was arguably our other best player in the run that almost kept us up, and both have fallen off a cliff ever since. Can’t blame Wilshere if he’s lost patience with either of them, especially with the other options. Lawrence coming back would be immense if it happens.

Yes to be fair he was good for most of those 16 games. I hope for him he rediscovers that because Pompey fans went from raving about him to lumping into the same category as Brown.

In my view, Alli is just a fast runner with poor decision-making and no end product. Makosso, for a centre-back, has pace and ability, but his application and discipline let him down; if he fails to address that, he will end up playing at a lower level than he is capable of.

Have to agree. Makosso, there is a quality player in there, if he had the correct attitude I think he could be exceptional, however his choices of his own making suggest he is more likely to be a nobody. Archer - if he is not part of the squad then can only assume JW has someone lined up for the left wing, be that Lawrence or a like loan/incoming. Alli - not consistent enough, on his day unplayable but too many mistakes and lapses in concentration

I agree on Makosso, but Alli has shown that end product before. I don’t think he has the same attitude problems as Makosso, more that he’s a confidence player who seems not to be confident often enough.

I'm a bit fed up of waiting for certain players to come good. If they can't get it together that's on them. I'd move them all on wherever possible if they're in that category.outlaws is not the barometer of sanity. You're either Luton full tilt or you are nothing.
