The imminent death of Kenilworth Rd

Posted by millstreet on 10/7/2026, 13:19:57

With Power Crt only 2 years away my thoughts turn to the end of the old girl...will I enjoy going to a brand new stadium sitting (standing)with new different people...will I enjoy the walk to the stadium first done in 1966...will I enjoy the walk after the game...so I have decided what's needed is promotion this season

    Looking forward to it already
    Come on England

I've been watching the Hatters since 1967/68 and I am absolutely dreading saying goodbye to Kenilworth Road. To be honest I'm not even 100% sure that I will be a regular at Power Court. I'll see how I feel when the time comes to renew my season ticket!

I am almost a 100% sure that I will still go when we get to PC, as much as leaving the old girl will be tough.

Just as I still went when we were in the conference. I thought that was going to be awful playing teams like Braintree* and so on. But I re-discovered that no matter who we played, or where we played, once the game started it was the Hatters against the other team, whoever they were.

        And that was enough.

I think I'd enjoy not having to bob from side to side to see round the pillar and floodlight pylon. The walk from Station Road will be a bit longer than from the busway.

              Only 46 league games left.....

Gonna miss the walk up Hazelbury Crescent, the anticipation.

I was working at Silverstone the other week along with a Everton supporter. He asked about Luton’s new ground. And I asked him about theirs. He said first part of season everyone was moaning. It’s all different etc etc. by new year things had settled down and they all love it now and are looking forward
