Remember the 'repercussions' of our defeat by Blackpool in the play offs ? A lessons learned was held immediately afterwards. I think the same scenario has happened again, and just like the season after Blackpool, this time with the Stevenage issue, we are in for a hell of a season this time around.
Fingers crossed. But then Wilshere has been bullish since very soon after he was appointed about what he could do once he’d had pre-season with the squad, so let’s see what further embellishments he’s bringing.
Let's see indeed. It is sightly worrying that it was stated "we want to get our business done early " and we are still waiting to improve the squad in a few area's.
Exactly how much business are you expecting us to do given that this squad ended the season in the form of champions - not just promotion? And yet we've nailed down Clark and Walsh and got Johnston, Palmer and now Ashby signed too! I'm more than impressed by that and wouldn't have thought there's be too much more movement in. We need to shift some dead wood though.
Wanting to get business done early and actually being able to achieve are two different things.
There are other parties involved (selling / loaning clubs for example - or maybe a player is in talks with other clubs as well) who may prefer to hold out while they find a replacement, which is out of our hands.
Fair point, he did say a couple of deal were close I think so hopefully we'll hear something more today or tomorrow but it's not the end of the world if we don't.
