    New striker

Why do we need to splash the cash when we have David Gawel in waiting ?
Impossible to ignore his absolute prolific season.
Just need to move on some of the dead wood currently at the club.

Gawel will get his chance. Even if Adebayo comes back fit and signs again, that still leaves plenty of striker upgrades necessary in the squad. Or would you be happy with Cole, Yates, Woodrow and Wells as our options?

I think it depends on what formation Wilshere wants to play this season, as well.

Does he stick with 1 up front? In which case we probably only need 3 senior strikers (potentially 5 currently - Adebayo, Cole, Yates, Wells, Woodrow) in the squad with 1 or 2 youngsters as backup (Gawel, Lynch, Gbode?) - and so we need to move a few on, either permanently or on loan, even if we didn't sign anyone else!

Or maybe he will use pre-season to change the tactics more drastically than would have been wise mid-season with the games coming thick and fast and little training time in between to get his ideas across. I think he's probably happy with the current system though. But does playing 1 up front make it harder for a youngster to break through?

Possibly harder, but certainly not impossible - Wilshere specifically named Gawel as one he hopes will break through into the first team at the Meet The Manager event last season, in a way that suggested Gawel will get his chance.
Even allowing for that, though, given our strikers’ collectively poor record last season, I imagine we’ll be looking this summer - that Irish League forward we were linked with last week looked a good shout, for instance.

The guy at Shelbourne is an attacking midfielder, I think?

So probably a bargain basement replacement for Kasey Palmer who'll be going to MK Dons

The club have done really well moving people on, but forward area is quite mental. We have Nordas, Wells, Cole, Yates, Woodrow, possibly Elijah, and Gawel. In an ideal world I'd only keep Wells, Elijah and Gawel.

I’d forgotten about Nordas! I’d rather keep him than Cole, Yates, Woodrow and maybe even Wells. But yeah, there’s a LOT of potential churn there.
(Good intel on Sherborne lad, thanks.)
