Frighteningly true to the world we now live in.
Some fantastic performances worthy of Oscars.
Alot of the film could easily be a documentary.
I'd suggest if you have left leaning tendencies, for a change, open your mind before watching it.
    You'll be better for it.

    As you were.

You’re trying to tell me that Uwe Boll, a director/writer only slightly above Neil Breen in competency, suddenly made a good film? I find that very hard to believe. 😄

It was a very good film although disturbing. Uwe Boll certainly has riled everyone up on this one, especially as Elon put it up for free on X over the weekend as Germany banned it pretty much straight away. I watched it on YT and Armie Hammer certainly impressed.

There will no doubt be a lot of repercussions from it.

Couple of guff suggestions there tubby.

However, American History X is a superb film. An education as much as it is, obviously, a fictional film. Same as Citizen vigalante in that respect.

Oh!! You're trying to join the Brady Bunch on here with your 'I am superior than thou' attitude. Nice one. That's nice for you.
And there was me thinking you might be able to take off your velcro gloves and hold down a meaningful conversation.

Always amusing as a centrist to watch the left/right arguments on here. In this instance, you accuse the left of having an "'I am superior than thou' attitude", having opened the thread with:

"I'd suggest if you have left leaning tendencies, for a change, open your mind before watching it.
                  You'll be better for it."

Neither side behaves any better than the other, but it seems that few of you have the self-awareness to realise it.

It's true if you only look at income tax revenue, approx £330bn versus welfare bill of about £333bn. Which is why it gets mentioned but that doesn't account for tax revenue from other taxes than just income tax. So it's arguable that you and Ampthill Fan are both right depending on how you define tax revenue.

It’s also true that the vast amount of that is pensions so I’m guessing he wants that scrapped.

Considering his fake outrage on the fuel allowance cut that would normally be a surprise. However it’s the twighlight zone so hey ho.

PFI deals under Blair government were terrible for the taxpayer. Not quite the same thing but still a scandalous waste of public money.

In the US multi billion dollar benefit fraud uncovered by Nick Shirley. The response in California? To attempt to make it illegal to do what Nick Shirley did to uncover the fraud.

Just a couple of examples off the top of my head.

Wasting taxpayers money shouldn't be reduced to party politics. All sides have a bad record on it and all of them deserve criticism.

I'm just saying it's not party political and it's off the top of my head so yes it is the best I can come up with. I think it was an $8.9 billion fraud that Shirley uncovered so it's quite a significant amount, regardless it's the attitude that he was called out for racism by the mainstream media and now they are trying to ban anyone else in California from being able to investigate in the future which rings alarm bells with me.

Totally agree about Trump but he's right wing and my point was that both left wing and right wing are bad when it comes to this sort of thing. All dodgy dealings need to be scrutinised and it shouldn't be supporters of the left only criticising the right or supporters of the right only criticising the left. All fraud should be called out regardless.

I balanced out James silly suggestion that the left are exempt from fraud and/or negligence/incompetence with what tax payers money is spent on, so no I don't need to post both sides thanks for the suggestion anyway.

If you saw what Shirley was exposing I think it's a bit of a stretch to suggest that there wasn't wide spread fraud taking place, regardless of whether that has officially been recognised yet by the authorities. And I think this is the problem. People are perfectly happy to pretend not to see obvious fraud like that and then get upset because someone like Trump gets voted in. Trump got voted in because the Democrats grew complacent. For the record I agree with you that Trump is obviously also corrupt. Him and his mates must have made eye watering fortunes on the stock exchange over the last 6 months or so with his every post on his social media platform sending stocks plummeting or rocketing. It's insane. But he wouldn't even be there to do that if the Democrats hadn't done such a poor job or ignored the concerns so blatantly of the people who then ended up voting for Trump and enabling what you always seem to bring up on these threads. Can you see that?

There is massive corruption in the benefits world though. We all know of people who game the system. However it is small fry compared to the high end corruption, eg the COVID contracts dished out under Johnson for example.

I don't understand what your last line is referencing?

Personally at the moment I think there are lots of incredibly wealthy people/organisations around the world all vying with one another to get things as much on their terms as possible. I think they will have infiltrated policy makers around the world and that the world of politics is just a pretence on the whole.

It's a pretty depressing belief but I reckon it's the closest thing to the truth and if I wasn't already relatively well off I reckon I would be more militant about it. As things stand it's not really worth my while to get that worked up about it.

I do think there's a lot of divide and rule going on all over the world by these wealthy elites influencing policy to create outrageous realities.

The thing I think that Joe Public gets wrong is when people fall into the trap of party politics. Because wrong is wrong but people tend to only see wrong in their opponents rather than within their own group. And this is then exploited by those pulling the strings. It's a shame but that's how it seems to be in my opinion.

Benefit fraud and worldwide corruption/tax evasion is exactly the same thing though. Just at the opposite ends of the financial spectrum. But if you swapped those committing benefit fraud with those committing worldwide corruption and tax evasion nothing would change because both groups of people are exactly the same. Both need to be tackled. Benefit fraud is less in terms of outright amounts but I would argue it is psychologically more damaging to law abiding folk because they are more exposed to it and feel more aggreived about it. This is then exploited by those committing the high end financial crimes because it takes the heat off them. So from that perspective, benefit fraud is of serious concern not simply because it's immoral but because it helps those committing the much more destructive but simultaneously more hidden financial crimes.

This I think is what the left leaning fail to understand properly and it's why Trump et al are able to run rings round them.

outlaws is not the barometer of sanity. You're either Luton full tilt or you are nothing. We have spunked way too much money on shite. The end.
