Same old Same old England. !! Sadly we’re just nit good enough !!
Spain spent the whole game against Cape Verde creating chances and attacking with intent, they barely looked in danger of conceding. They followed it up with a 4-0 win against Saudi Arabia and qualified barely looking as if they might concede.
England, I thought, put in a fabulous performance against Croatia, albeit looking more vulnerable than we'd like at the back.
The following two games we have limped through and arguably got lucky defensively in both.
Honest opinion, how did you see it? Not sure that I shouldn't watch it just because I have some negative opinions about what I have seen.
Is that the Spain that had a total of 2500 passes between scoring a goal in the second game.
I don’t think our defence looked great last night but imo part of that is down to playing both Bellingham & Roger’s. Would have preferred Warburton as back up to Rice & Anderson but he chose Henderson and Mainoo which I think was a mistake but he has a way he wants the team to play so have to trust his judgement but not sure why he didn’t start with Mainoo now he has taken him.
Not sure what Madueke & Ezi offer. In Saka , Pickford , Kane , Elliot & Rice we have some very decent players.
What's the number of passes got to do with it? That has been their style for ages, and they've done reasonably well with it I'd suggest.
We do have some decent players and I REALLY enjoyed what we did against Croatia. But I do fear what will happen if we go behind to one of the really top teams.
You never know, I still have hopes but those last two performances were uninspiring.
The games coming up are where it really counts though, then we will really get to know.
