PC delay?
Posted by Melbourne Hat on 24/6/2026, 7:00:48
In the drone footage by the 'Wandering Northerner' bloke, he mentions drainage and pipes that have been lying around the PC site for months a lot.
I found as letter from the 'Local Flood Authority' in the planning portal documents relating to PC.
It has has this to say about drainage etc:
"No drainage works shall take place until a detailed construction phase surface water management plan for the site has been submitted in writing to the Local Planning Authority for approval. The scheme shall subsequently be carried out only in strict accordance with the approved details. In relation to Condition 60, the construction drawings of the surface water drainage network for the stadium, associated sustainable drainage components, flow control mechanisms and outfall details are missing from the submission and therefore we are unable to recommend the discharge of the condition at this time. The only construction drawings available are of the proposed foul system. Once the surface water drainage construction drawings for the Stadium have been submitted we would be happy to review and provide further comment. In relation to condition 63 and 64 these conditions currently cover the entire application boundary, The current details submitted only cover the stadium and therefore further details are required in relation to the proposal for the remainder of the site. In relation to the Stadium further details are required regarding the construction of the outfalls to the River Lea and the installation of the Hydrobrakes. Details are required on the timing of these installations in relation to the site construction, how discharge rates are to be managed throughout the construction to ensure rates are not increased from existing. In addition a phasing plan including location of mitigation measures (i.e. straw bales) and the temporary features should be included for each step of the construction phase."
This is dated 28th May, so quite recent.
So there seems to be a delay here until extra details have been provided regarding drainage for the whole site instead of just the stadium itself.
Anyone got any straw bales going spare?
Yes I am bored.

It seems fairly standard stuff, I have seen similar responses on now approved ammendments.

Yes, fair enough.
I thought it was interesting to see some explanation why that bit seemed to have stalled.

He does great videos, but he could go a little bit of research in the planning docs as some of his questions may well be answered.
I’m not quite sure how the consultants missed something like this. I’m going to presume there is more to it than what meets the eye.

Far more interesting than the guff posted yesterday. Comms from the club are very quiet as usual. We don't need to know everything but if it wasn't for this bloke and his drone and people like Melbourne lookimg into things, we'd know absolutely nothing about progress at PC.

We used to get regular updates in the summer as to how the pitch was coming along. Now we have a new stadium on the horizon we get zilch. Explain that

What do you want them to say?
"today at Power Court we erected lots of supporting steelwork and poured absolutely shit tons of concrete. We also dug a few holes and filled others in. There were no onsite injuries and everyone had a nice lunch"

My point was they used to tell us the grass had grown 50mm in a week so an update of any sort on something significantly more important than the state of the pitch over summer should probably get a little mention here or there

Well, considering it is the most important thing the club will ever do, some kind of 'drum beat' on progress would be expected, surely?
I'm not saying that should be coming up with stuff every day or even every week but there must be a project plan (isn't there?), so time some comms with milestones when they have been reached/surpassed. Keeps the most important thing the club has ever done in the news and fans regularly updated
It is very quiet

Maybe they could approach that 'Wandering Northener' bloke, offer space on the website for his weekly videos. At the least they could post a weekly link to the latest one on Youtube.
Or maybe there are too many 'terms & conditions' and legal hoops to jump through. “You get a wonderful view from the point of no return.” Terry Pratchett

Or they could just do something themselves? Like most clubs that have built a new ground
As I say, this is the most important thing the club will ever do. Good news stories should be pouring (like concrete) out of the stadium build. Yet it is all strangely quiet

A lack of communication leads to that void being filled with rumours. The latest one being its 6 months behind schedule(of the 26th estimated completion date)
Give it a few months, there'll be the standard 'we know communication is poor, we're working to improve that' guff in a match programme. For the 18th time.
Do they really think so little of the peasants nowadays that they refuse to give even a slight update?

If that is true and there is another delay, I wonder what the excuse be this time
