Inflation…..

Yet again the so called “experts” are wrong but rather than the media/press call out the uselessness of their “experts” the tag line is that it’s “unexpected”
Maybe, just maybe, Rachel Reeves could be given a bit more credit for the job she is doing.
And perhaps the experts could be replaced with others who are more expert….. Winning is everything - more than you have

Since her appointment she has taken unemployment from 4.3% to 5% and a loss of 100k jobs in the last 12 months alone. I doubt the almost 2 million out of work would think she is doing a good job.

It’s the employers who make people redundant not the Chancellor.
Employers can choose to make less profit and pay lower dividends.
The NI increase was done for good reasons, sadly it has had the effect you highlight.
Winning is everything - more than you have

It's Rachel who has made some employees far too expensive to employ is what I think you are trying to say.

Those of your ilk will probably think that those 2 million didn't want to work anyway and are happy to sponge off the state.

It’s the 1 million young people who aren’t in work or education that’s more of an issue.
Re: Inflation…..
Posted by Wilt on 17/6/2026, 15:58:47, in reply to "Re: Inflation….."
Er no, I don't think anyone of my ilk would think that all 2 million are spongers. I don't, but the percentage that are is still an uncomfortable number.

You said that last month……are you one of the “experts”?
In terms of taxation, quite how do you expect to fund things like the state pension and the NHS without NI and taxation?
Assuming you (or will) need both maybe consider that.
Coming off the back of the war in the Middle East Reeves has done a remarkably good job.
In isolation from the PM, maybe consider like Mahmood and Phillipson, the cabinet have some very competent people. Winning is everything - more than you have

We have not seen the effect of Iran war yet..With increase in tax..I personally have no beef with paying in to help those who need it..get rid of the illegal migrant payments..ditch payments to those claiming for moody illness..eg anxiety

This exactly, I've got a mate who gets over £900 a month plus carers twice a day for anxiety and not being able to walk past an off licence without filling up on cider. They're also giving him a full mouth of new teeth because who'd of thought years of smoking, scrumpy cider and not brushing them, would make them fall out. Oh and a brand new car perhaps on Motorbility, if he ever sobers up. Never forgive never forget - fcuk the FA
