    Born today: https://hattersheritage.co.uk/players?born-today=yes&sort=date-active

2 players have been born today.

The first was Ivan Sharpe in 1889, who only played one game for the club in Nov 1907. The other is Scott Cuthbert who was born in 1987 and played 111 games for the Hatters between 2015-2018.

And just to show how much I know about football, I was gutted when we let Cuthbert leave.

Good old school centre-half. Fish out of water though when NJ insisted on playing out from the back.

He always had a look of abject horror on his face when Tyler used to roll the ball out to him.

Ivan Sharpe definitely a candidate for 'best career after leaving Luton' award. He won an Olympic football gold medal in 1912 and became the founder of the Football Writer's association.

He was still writing programme articles for Wolves when Luton visited in the 1950s.

There's a good article about him here: https://footballwriters.co.uk/editorial/ivan-sharpe-the-fwas-founding-father/

The article above is a great read FrednBob. I was going to add a comment about Ivan Sharpe’s journalistic career, but hoped that others may read the link to his bio on the Hatters Heritage website and be intrigued. Your link above brings even greater detail to what a great influence he had to foitball journalism in his post football playing days.
