This is an excellent article and confirms that FIFA are no longer fit for purpose.
When I went to the Euros in Germany in ‘24 you had free travel if you had a match day ticket. For one of the games we travelled 135 miles to the city and then got local public transport all for free.
I hope and expect Germany still did will by hosting with hospitality etc.

I've spent a small amount of time in the US recently, New York, Philadelphia, New England and all I can say is that despite everything, overall the yanks are still a very hospitable and friendly people.

But yes, stuff like that, not so much.

Totally agree…I was in the keys in April , heading to Dallas & Boston next week to watch England and then back to Nashville , North & South Carolina in early September.
They are a bit loud but very friendly and I like the country…it’s the other shit that is less palatable.

            Indeed.

And the loud bit . . . sometimes groups of them just seem to hit "broadcast" mode in competition with each other.

Yep they were 65 euros …it’s fucked and as the article says it’s making the whole thing corporate.
Think it’s was Jock Stein said without fans it’s meaningless and that’s so true.

Sky sports is leading with an article saying issues can't spoil the greatest show on earth whilst the Beeb go with other articles like this and that the yanks are more interested in the NBA finals. I know who I believe and it's isn't the hype merchants at sky.

In the end the football will still survive and deliver but the soul of the game is just being eaten away by all the corporate greed.

You are right but for me this has taken it to a whole new level.
I still don’t have tickets but know I will get one …every few days I get an email from fifa saying last remaining tickets available…surprise surprise they are trying to sell the remaining cat 1 and hospitality…fully expect a couple of days before cat 2 & 3 will become available. Meanwhile tickets on the secondary market have come down from £1200 to £450 and loads still around.
They will be face value by Wednesday which btw is still to expensive.

Surely the soul of the game is at local level. The almost non-existence of park football on Saturdays and Sundays tells you why there's no soul at a higher level. Most people really just don't care.
