Hitchin tickets go on sale at noon tomorrow - the game is now a testimonial for their former player and manager Mark Burke who was with us as a youngster in the early 1980s.
Re: Ticket news that is of more interest to a lot of people
Well, as you brought it up, FIFA are exactly following Trump's ideology of maximising profit at any cost to public opinion or ethical decision making. And yet, for some reason, a certain group of people find that an attractive thing to back/support/vote for etc. Live justly, love mercy, perpetuate generosity, walk humbly.
"Every match is already sold out," Fifa president Gianni Infantino said in February. "We keep some tickets back for some last-minute sales, of course, but every match is sold out."
Then you see tickets for Jordan vs Algeria now at a "bargain" £120 each which apparently is 64% discount. Prices are ridiculous, cost to even get a train there has gone up 1000% i think (normally £10 now £100). There won`t be empty seats as they will give them away to make the stadium look full. But the profiteering increase on the last world cup to take advantage of those that HAVE to be there in insane.
Think most of raised eyebrows at mid tier pricing for the play off final bein about £70. This is utter insane profiteering to exploit demand with measured supply.
Some teams will of course sell out their allocation (which will be fraction of stadium capacity).
How not to do a world cup 1)Put it in america 2)put it in trumps america with extra checks 3)Increase in prices. apparently "bottom tier" (prices not position) is 9 x what it was in qatar. Final tickets are 5 x what they were.
Inantino will call it a massive success. Commercially it will be as that price increase will show more money in even if less tickets (and lets face it qatar and russia werent attractive venues) Image wise its not a good look of course
