Always love to see know-nothings post about cricket on here.
No, absolutely. But those dismissing a team after their first (poor) innings in a five day test need to hold their fire until we see what happens in the second innings.
Also, we should be cherishing Test Cricket while it still lasts. I went to England v Ireland 1st day at Lords a while ago. Both teams bowled out before tea. It did not diminish the spectacle of test (proper) cricket.
Anyway, hope you're well L. Far more that unites us than divides us.
Totally agree …I was there today and unlike lots of innings under bazball I didn’t see any ridiculous shots…good balls on a bowlers wicket…love test match cricket and the hum walking into the ground imo is the best sound at any sporting venue.
Yes, I agree with your point. Folk should always reserve judgement until both sides have batted.
I wonder if Test Cricket needs to go to 4 days now (maybe with a reserve day in case of bad weather)? The purists would say no but change is a constant in life and how fast test cricket moves these days, I'm not sure we would lose a lot
What are they ? I would like the review system introduced to football…Captain has two reviews per match instead of var intervening. I also think three per innings currently in cricket is to many and should be reduced to two.
I know …be interested in your thoughts..I worry about the game I love as in today’s world everything seems to need to happen instantly…5 days is several life times to many youngsters now. Having said that kids do still seem to want play a bit more than they did a few years back…I really hope so.
I’m old enough to recall the days of a rest day on a Sunday in Test Matches. In fact my first , 1st Class match I watched was a one day game between Northants and Kent( which Kent won) in 1968 at Wardown Park.
Dad explained to me that it was sandwiched between a County Championship game between the same sides , but played on a different strip( no idea if the starting 11 changed for this!
But recall Woolmer, Underwood, Iqbal, Knott , Ealham all playing , and from that point Alan Knott became my favourite Cricketer…
Alan Knott is also my favourite cricketer! A swashbuckling wickie/batter which in my mind blended in with sunday afternoon films with Errol Flynn. My dad was born in Kent, so it was obvious I would also follow Kent, I spent many happy times there growing up. Closer to home, went to see Bedfordshire v Kent at Totternhoe recently, in a 50-over warm up game.
