Can’t do the link, but reading about our Pikey friends who have parked up literally on a cricket club field and square at Burgess Hill.
Police can’t do anything until they get permission to move them on from the local council, as per usual…

Meanwhile rubbish tipped into local stream, and human shit in surrounding hedges.
Absolutely makes me rage , how the law favours them and how these scum, know how to play it.
Simple case of breaking and entering, eithe perpetrators on site.
Police should have the power to confiscate vans and caravans on the spot.
Yes they will play the human rights act, but to eradicate this the law has to change…
At the end of the day , come Autumn they all return to their houses in Ireland for the winter.

Where do you insert a comment on this thread. How about here. Whilst I don't necessarily disagree with some posters, others are so blatant in their dislike and hatred for those not seen as their equals. Reading some of the comments reminds me of The Nuremberg Laws of 1935. Sadly it has become normalised to express such views thanks to the countries top 3. What a sad country this has become. And no, I'm not fucking off back to Ireland.

Well sorry mate, if you don’t like but I had a close encounter with this section of our community over 20 years ago, and been close to the upset and distress caused by them to a work colleague some 15 years ago in the Sandy Area.
3 years ago I witnessed them driving a quad bike at speed from their permanent site in Kempston while the rear seat passenger was holding onto a baby…. No crash helmets in sight.

Sorry nothing has changed in those years to change my mind..nor my language or absolute disgust on how they choose to behave or their lifestyle.

Have you ever had any negative interactions at all with settled English people? I bet you have. You're talking about three incidents over more than 20 years. Those incidents stand out to you and you're focusing on what feels like a pattern in a way you probably aren't drawing a pattern from your other negative experiences of other people.

The behaviour you're describing is very antisocial. But it's individuals' behaviour, it's not in those people's genes or culture or whatever.

One thought, if you are so enraged at travellers leaving your local area in a mess, consider how those communities feel who have had dumped on them huge numbers of unvetted illegal immigrants who are then free to roam freely. Having rubbish dumped pales into insignificance compared to the risk of a wife or daughter being raped.

But in fairness they do have the right to choose to live a particular way. However, like each of us, we all have a responsibility to wider society. Also, not all traveller communities are the same.

I wonder how many of those up in arms about the deplorable rubbish they leave behind, are very happy to throw their McDonald's litter out the window, or leave their tents amd other equipment behind after a festival, or don't bother to recycle, or are happy to continue to use single use plastic bottles, or spit chewing gum/cigarette butts on the pavement, or allow their dogs to poo over public land without cleaning it up etc etc.

Don't get me wrong it's disgusting the attitude and state that some travellers treat the land but let's not be guilty of double standards. We would all do well to clean up our collective crap and keep Britain beautiful.

Well it's very evident from the state of the countryside, pavements, approaches to roundabouts and traffic lights that a significant amount of people are very happy to offload their litter and create mess and that often includes bottles containing yellow liquid!. I doubt it's all done by travelling communities.

Think you miss my point Godders, if we dump rubbish, or cause a nuisance, we will eventually get caught and suffer the consequences ( and quite right too)
You also state that everyone has the right to live how they wish, well they certainly do , and the only reason they do is there are no consequences for them.

I’ve seen kids openly thieve from the local Tesco, and security are hopeless and have their hands tied, a few years ago I was in Bedford cafe , and witnessed a whole group eat a meal and then argue the meal wasn’t upto standard and leave without paying.

I assume vehicles are registered at some permanent address either in this country or Ireland( when they return for the winter)
