2 players have been born on this day.

The first was Jim Standen who was born in 1935 and played for the Hatters between 1960-62.

The other was David Oldfield who was born in 1968 and had two stints playing for the Town, firstly between 1987-1989 and then later between 1995-1998.

Like yesterday there have been no matches on this day and therefore there have been no debuts either.

Jim Standen was also one of the last sportsmen excelling in cricket and football.

Topped the bowling averages one year for Worcestershire. My only memory of him at Luton is signing my autograph book as Jimmy Greaves!

I am always surprised how many times there only seems to be a few players born on a particular day. As there is only 365 days to be born, I am now wondering if there is a freaky day that is way ahead of others?

On average, I would expect to see between three and four each day.

ONS says nationally 27th September is the date with most births so that might help narrow it down.
