I think it is a bit harsh but if they've been found guilty of spying on multiple occasions you can see the reasoning

Probably not really practical but maybe a middle ground solution would have been to delay the final by a week, expunge the result of the two-legged semi-final and force them to replay the tie, as a one-off game, at Boro's ground this weekend. With, say, a 10-point deduction

If it had been a one-ff I think they just might've got away with it.

Rather like Swindon, it was the multiplicity that has led to the expulsion.

Given that new rules were introduced specifically to stop this from happening, Southampton have been incredibly stupid.

New rules to stop it happening but the EFL should have laid out the punishment of what would happen to any club that was caught from the very beginning, as normal its a complete load of made up bollox as they bumble their way through the case.

Probably the right decision as they admitted 3 counts of spying, but you have got to feel sorry for the fans.

I would have been absolutely gutted if it happened to us before Coventry.

Seems ludicrous, not least because from what I can gather he was on public land overlooking the training ground so wasn't trespassing.

But apparently the rules were changed after Bielsa/Leeds admitted to it a few years ago. And rules is rules.

However - it is a bit funny. I wonder if the lose their appeal they will go full legal and injunctions etc. It's all a bit too serious

I would prefer it if football took a bit more of a moral code approach to things - more retrospective bans for diving etc (as long as it's not us). I can't see it happening unless sponsors thought it would damage their profits though
