26/27 Championship Play Off

Position 3 & 4 play each other and winner is in the final.
Position 5, 6, 7 & 8 play each other and winner gets to the final.
It could so be that a team who finishes 8th ends up being in the prem.
Are you sure that that is how it works - I thought that 5th plays 8th and 6th plays 7th - one leg - higher placed team at home. 3rd and 4th then play the winners of those games over two legs. The two winners play each other in the final.
The teams in 3rd and 4th are effectively in the same position as they are now but the teams finishing 5th and 6th play an extra game making finishing position more crucial than at present.
You are right about the 8th placed team possibly qualifying. This means that the four leagues below the PL all have different play off rules.
Championship - 3rd to 8th League 1 - 3rd to 6th League 2 - 4th to 7th National League - 2nd to 7th
At the end of the season and players are jaded, who wants to watch more cagey 0-0s?The truth is simple. If it was complicated, everyone would understand it.
Although not confirmed (as far as I know), the suggestion was that the team that finishes 3rd will always play the lower finishing team that qualifies so it won't be known which qualifying game their opponent comes from until both games have been played.
