Seems a strange thing when it would require a by-election, NEC approval to stand and then actually winning the seat. Any of those fail and he could have blown his chance.

My guess is it’ll be 78yr old Marie Rimmer in St Helens who ‘makes way’.

She claims that she backs Starmer and hasn't spoken to Burnham since campaigning in 2024.

Sounds something like the old ‘the manager has the full support of board’ saying eh?

TBH think it would be clear that he could stand as a candidate before a seat became available. To have an unnecessary by-election, not let Burnham stand, and then lose would just backfire on Starmer and the Labour Party even more.

Not keen if any of them on any side, but he’d be best of a bad bunch I think.

Looking at the state of her, I very much doubt her breath is fresh.

Still doesn't guarantee him winning the seat. I can see parties "stepping aside" in a by-election to try to stop him winning.
