Seems to be doing a lot of the police's work at the moment. Why is that?

    1. Exposing the grooming gangs based out of West Midlands convenience stores
    2. Exposing the lawyers helping asylum seekers pretend they are gay to win the right to remain in UK.
    3. Exposing organised crime including the selling of class A drugs at convenience stores.
    4. Exposing the mastermind behind the majority of the illegal boat crossings.

Bravo to all the above but why is it the BBC doing this work and not the police or associated government agencies?

It's a shame they don't devote some of their resources to investigate Farage and the £5m he was given by Harborne. After all they gave days of air time to Starmers suits and glasses.

I thought exactly the same this morning when I read the article about the 'mastermind behind the boat crossings'.

I suspect a few Chief Constables will be receiving a call from the Home Secretary.

The thing is I don't think this is even new information. I'm sure I heard about something very similar a couple of years ago. Definitely Kurdish gangs, perhaps not this specific individual though to be fair. Just seems strange a journalist can find out more than a detective.

Point 4 is brilliant - imagine if the boats stop and Farage has nothing left? Especially after all the airtime the Beeb has given him.

One imagines that if he really is controlling all the boats it's a mafia thing with the threat of violence of anyone else moving into the market. It doesn't look especially complicated and somebody else will replace him if he is banged up.

Until refugees are allowed to buy ferry and plane tickets like anyone else there will continue to be a people smuggling black market.

The importance of real journalism . . . we need much more of it, sadly we seem to be getting less.

Could it be that the BBC can go to places where the authorities cannot go for legal reasons?

What places aren't police allowed to go to for legal reasons? And what is wrong with under cover operations?

I think the problem is that of 'agent provocateur,' where the police are involved in undercover operations, providing the defence counsel with a hoast of options to qwreck a prosecution.

Like most policing, easy to say, much more difficult to apply.

Seems stupid to me, the end point is to prevent crime and that's what should be prioritised.
