      IIRC it was yet another one of those Luton transfers where we needed the fee otherwise we might have been out of business. Mind you, Ingram wasn’t particularly good so it could’ve been worse.

      I remember Malcolm McDonald reckoning that Ingram didn’t have what it takes to be a centre forward because he ‘wouldn’t put his head in where it hurts’.

              Yes, it was. I was about to post the same. I only ever remember Ingram going to America (and Wales ).

                Was an outstanding youngster who as a schoolboy had been tipped to go to the very top. I’m sure it exists somewhere in the Heritage or something suchlike but the ex West Germany senior men’s trainer Helmut Schön (WC Winner) made some absolutely gushing comments about him following a an England Schoolboy International against West Germany.

                Godfrey went out to the USA in his mid-20’s where I think he still lives and having made his fortune. He was a big Luton fan too.

                  Wasn't he involved in the early days of 2020 - apparently, he still has a home in Bedfordshire.

                  Local boy Godfrey was a schoolboy prodigy, starring for England schoolboys and predicted a glittering career after signing on for the Hatters in 1977. Undoubtedly supremely talented, Godfrey did not find the physical side of the English game to his liking and was in and out of the side at Kenilworth Road.

                  Godfrey moved to the USA in 1981 and found the playing style there far more suited to his talents and he enjoyed a ten year stint playing for St Louis Storm and San Jose Earthquakes banging in goals for fun and was at one time voted the ‘Most Valuable Player’ in the NASL.

                  Godfrey still has coaching interests in the States as well as a home in Bedfordshire.

                    I played with him for a couple of seasons in the mid to late 90s so he was here then.

                      I used to play against GI at school he was ridiculously good at 14/15 , we were all in awe of him.
                      He was a really nice lad .

                        In 1969, at the age of 10, he was mascot for the home game against Torquay.
