    World cup

    since the season is done..

Is anyone really that excited for it? Pleasant distraction yes. But will be some hideous kick off times. Infantino gets to lick trumps areshole.

Pricing structure (tickets and local transport" show that its a commercial enterprise and it doesn`t care. Something very wrong when the yanks who dont do football get the world cup twice - both times since we had it

Wales didn't make unfortunately. Lost the playoff final against Bosnia or somewhere. Even less reasons to engage with the whole thing.

1st one ever where im not bothered. Even those when England haven't qualified I've been interested in but this is a damping indictment of modern football.

The masses priced out of it for plastic supporters, ill watch what I catch and probably England games but pretty indifferent to it

Not at all excited - I can honestly say that I don't even know when it starts and, until I saw the post below, I had forgotten who is in England's group.

It is now a money making scheme rather than a football tournament and a chance for self publicity for Infantino and Trump.

The extra teams taking part just means many more meaningless games between two teams that nobody would ever dream of watching at any other time.

Suddenly offices, factories and shops will be full of people who have never been to a football match becoming master tacticians who know exactly what all the experienced managers are doing wrong and what they should be doing differently.

I'm more looking forward to a PSF at Hitchin than the world cup.

England is in Group L for the 2026 World Cup, alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama. Because the tournament is being held across North America, the kick-off times for UK fans vary between late evening and early morning.
                            +1

Here are the confirmed group stage times and the potential knockout slots in British Summer Time (BST):

                            Group Stage Fixtures
                            Match Date Kick-off (BST) Venue
England vs. Croatia Wednesday, 17 June 9:00 PM Arlington (Dallas)
England vs. Ghana Tuesday, 23 June 9:00 PM Foxborough (Boston)
Panama vs. England Saturday, 27 June 10:00 PM East Rutherford (NY/NJ)
                            Potential Knockout Stages
England's path through the tournament depends on their group finish. As you can see, finishing first or second generally leads to much better viewing times for the UK, while a third-place finish could mean some very late nights.

                            If England Wins Group L:

                            Last 32: Wednesday, 1 July – 5:00 PM

Last 16: Sunday, 5 July – 1:00 AM (Monday morning)

                            Quarter-final: Saturday, 11 July – 10:00 PM

If England Finishes 2nd in Group L:

                            Last 32: Thursday, 2 July – 12:00 AM (Midnight)

                            Last 16: Monday, 6 July – 8:00 PM

                            Quarter-final: Friday, 10 July – 8:00 PM

If England Finishes 3rd (and qualifies):

                            Last 32: Friday, 3 July – 2:30 AM

                            Last 16: Tuesday, 7 July – 9:00 PM

                            Quarter-final: Saturday, 11 July – 2:00 AM (Sunday morning)

2:30am . . . though if we're playing so badly we finish third in the group it probably won't be worth staying up for anyway .

2nd is porbabky better for kick off times (midnight on a thursday better than 1 am on a monday morning). I can imagine some pubs thinking wtf as presumably they will have licence extensions to show them

I'm looking forward to the World Cup that really matters, the Street Child one which so many Outlaws, and the club, have generously supported with our fundraising to get a team from the favelas of Rio there.

It kicks off next Saturday in Mexico City and I will update. Such a wonderful expression of what sport - football- is all about and the complete ying/yang to the greed of FIFA and co.
