Turning Point?
Posted by Zaphod on 26/4/2026, 13:23:09
When do you think our season began to turn around?
Was it Jack's 'Ronnie Henry' moment against Burton on Feb 21st?
Or getting a point at Port Vale a week later, ending a run of six successive away league defeats?
There was a home defeat to Reading to come, but we have been excellent on the road ever since, which has made all the difference.

I think a combination of things. The style of play takes time to take in, and it’s going to have set backs. Then the signing of palmer. But also Odoffin coming back from injury has been massive. As has the form of Walsh and Kal since after the Doncaster game.

Odoffin is who Mengi thinks he is.
The gulf in class is massive

Safe bet to say Mengi isn't on your Christmas card list mate?
Mengi when fit was every bit as good as Odoffin. .I would love to have both playing together at some point. Unlikely I know, but that would be some pairing.
You seem to have it in for Mengi.

I don't like him, no.
He's nowhere near as good, as has been shown by the upturn in results since Odoffin came in.

Walsh and Odoffin have made a huge difference. We also need to factor in that we've got a very decent squad of players at this level. This makes a big difference at the back end of the season when games are coming thick and fast.
Noticeable that a lot of teams we have played during our winning run have been seriously weakened by injuries and not had the squad to replace them.

Quite ironic isn’t it.
Considering the accusations people have been making all season about our recruitment team being awful and only signing cheap or injured players.

Mate you are so easily pleased …we are currently 7th in the third tier of English football with the most money our club as ever had.
So get your head out of your arse …the criticism is totally justified.

When you weigh up the amount of money the recruitment team have spent/wasted, and where we currently sit in the table, they really have done a shit job. And if we don't get promotion it's 3 successive seasons of failure.
But I'd also put forwards Jack's appointment with Powell as a turning point in our season. It just wasn't so immediately apparent.

I said to Kal Naismith on Thursday that if we'd had Palmer all season and Odoffin had been fit all season we would have won the league. His reply was that if Jack had been manager all season and had a pre-season for the players to get used to his ideas we would have been champions.

I did a poll on here about a fortnight ago about POTS, won comfortably by Clark.
It would be closer now methinks.

I voted for Clark as it was PotS. If it was player since January I think the outcome would have been very different.Live justly, love mercy, perpetuate generosity, walk humbly.
