Farage , Ipswich and Norwich

(Seems they booked a venue hire including stadium tour under a different name, and when he turned up no one knew how to react - so photo opportunity by deception)
Norwich reaction...
Before anyone says "oh he`d be welcome at Luton just to see the meltdown" - swap him from another party leader and see how quick you`d be moaning about the club being involved in politics (even if it was ambushed to an extent)
'Scream' is a bit much but last nights posts were weird, even by 3 of this boards biggest oddballs standards. Both competing to be the most outraged by a politician they're definitely not bothered about visiting a football club no one outside of Ipswich gives a shit about. Very strange behaviour.
It was actually in 2017 to promote the living wage initiative and celebrate the club being an accredited employer (the first, or one of the first, in the league)
Surely a good thing.
The 2019 election was called early by Johnson, at the time of the Corbyn visit it was set for 2020, not 2019. I think.
Corbyn attended as publicity for us being the first club in England to pay the national living wage. So it was more about us then him. But yeah it was a publicity stint for him as well and ill advised. So wasnt happy about the club being used for political purposes even though the justification was more us than him. I`d have rather he wasnt there. And i commented somethin similar at the time. I`m not a labour voter and never have been.
Farage today wasnt even making the pretence of supporting anything ipswich have done. Ipswich have said they are "apolitical" and farage wasnt invited there. Farage says it was an official invite .I`d say the lack of anyone official in those photos suggest who was lying
Unless it’s your existing local MP or someone in post (in the cabinet), I think clubs should steer clear of politicians on both sides of the spectrum. It opens yourself up to all sorts of accusations and best avoided. This includes Luton/Corbyn and Ipswich/Farage
It has back fired spectacularly and Ipswich have scored a huge own goal.
If Ipswich were really tricked into allowing this then they should be braver and call this out. I suspect they have been threatened not to.
For Farage I think the criticism right across football this afternoon will worry him because he believes the hype of popularity but it isn’t present outside the cult and those with a shoulder MRI scan. Winning is everything
He does seem to be getting increasingly desperate with his publicity stunts.
The cringeworthy attempts to make something out of that trip to Chagos, the humiliation by Trump and not forgetting how his Musk fanboy approach got him burned.
This one hasn't made him look quite as stupid as those did to be fair.
But not a word of criticism from his cult. His temu trump act is actually paying off to an extent, even if "full price" trump shuns him. His private flight to mauritius for an obvious result cost 12,500 according to his donation expenses. So about double the price of a first class seat to america on his own private plane. Doubt that even covered fuel
but gb news "tells it as it is" surely? Whereas the bbc who actually doesnt have to call itself something other than news gets criticised for being "woke". GB news has its disciples , or useful idiots. Some of whom are on this thread. Its probably the first time they have watched a programme with "news" in the title though. bless.
I wouldn't say its backfired. He rabid temu maga supporters will lap it up. Those that dislike him will still dislike him.
Pretty sure Ipswich were , but again they are caught in a trap. They will have some fans that are farage fan boys. A lot that aren't. So they just release a statement about everyone welcome and inclusion that doesn't offend anyone. Not much else they coudl realistically do .
Of course as soon as ipswich realised what was happening they could have kicked him off the premises - but again bad publicity for the farage fanboys, and farage would lap it up about freedom of speech etc. They were fucked either way
Should make EVERYONE wonder why you need to cheat and mislead everyone just to get attention.
I’d like to think developments with Chris Parry this evening will make more understand where we are headed and come to their senses.
Football is built on everything Reform campaign against.
Quite how anyone who watches and enjoys the rich diversity of the beautiful game can think that it would be “better” without that diversity baffles me.
