RIP Country Joe

Sad to see that Country Joe McDonald has passed away. Lead singer of Country Joe and the Fish (appeared at Woodstock: "Feel-Like-I'm-Fixing-to-Die-Rag" as anti-Vietnam War protest). Less well known for his masterful solo album "Quiet Days in Clichy", which is one of my favourites of all time. He produced some lovely music around that time, and later. Despite being afflicted with Parkinson's, he made it to the decent age of 84. Was married to Kathy for a fairly remarkable 43 years, and produced five children.

I bought Electric Music for the Mind and Body when it first was released, was 16 then. Carried buying the bands subsequent albums.
In 2004 the Country Joe Band did a UK tour, all original members except Barry Melton. Went to see them at the Borderline just off Charing Cross Road. Excellent nearly two hour set.
One of my favourite track of theirs from their first album, 7 and a half minute psychedelic instrumental, Section 43
