    1)a defender back for goal kicks. keeper passes 6 yards to him. He boots it or passes it Complete waste of a player

    2)The inevitable player hanging around for a short corner that is never going to happen. Get him in the box

    3)The unnecessary 2nd or 3rd man at a free kick. With some players you know they aren`t going to lay it off. They are going for a direct strike. Its even worse when its a free kick on the halfway line. Why even try and use 2 players for that?

    4)The obsession with "double pivots " "10`s" "9`s" "6`s" and "8`s" . Lineker was a 10. Phil Gray was a 10 after he was a 9 (when preece became a 9). Just call them defensive midfielders, box to box, target men, support strikers. Whatever

      1. Is this part of the 'Bait the press' tactic? Allegedly creates a bit more space in the midfield but only if you're midfielders can control and pass a ball.

      2. If it drags a defender out of the box then there's a bit more space.

      3. This only works if the other player willingly acts as a decoy and can shoot with the opposite foot. But nowadays the free kick taker wants the ball in precisely the right position for them so will place the ball and put the valve in their favoured position. So the decoy effect is lost.

      4. Just a change in language. The same way we used to say centre-halves, inside lefts, outside rights etc.
