Worst moment supporting Luton Town

Derek Mountfield and Everton robbery at Villa Park 1985.
Yes agree thats up there Cyber. But it was Sheedys equaliser that killed us. It wasn't a freekick anyway and Sealey left s big gap for the best freekick taker of that era to shoot into. After that all looked list and their winner seemed inevitable
The ‘96 Crewe playoff defeat, our first playoff experience. I thought we were going to do it and couldn’t see us doing better the following year. I’ve always been guarded in playoffs since. Seeing the players wiped out afterwards was traumatic.
Otherwise the sickening West Brom 5-2 last day collapse last year is up there, I really thought our momentum would get us over the line, only to capsize so badly while others tapped out draws. I felt it could be a 5 year sentence in L1, which didn’t help.
Going out of the football league was very painful too (but not a shock after they tried to kill us off). Tempered a bit by the chance to vent at Mawhinney at Wembley.
Football Related - The 85 semi where the ref decided to give the blue scousers a free kick from which they scored.
Club related - Sitting in a Loyal Luton committe meeting when the chairman and a couple of others, after they'd had "secret meetings," come out in favour of Bushwood.
Loyal Luton have at times obviously been crucial to the survival of the club but coming out in favour of Bushwood was their nadir.
Maybe, perhaps, some of those that were in favour of Bushwood may be behind the phalanx of new name posters criticising Gary Sweet.
Mate i was up all night in a text duscussion with an old friend and basucally a MIG pushing the bushwood thing and making threats about ip tracking people we both know .
And i can prove it but wont
It was a nasty period .
Lets be honest this was all about local contractors wanted on the bushwood plan so about money not the club .Value what we have because we nearly lost it all.
The Huddersfield play off second leg defeat also felt really bad as we’d played really well despite being decimated by injuries and lost late on. I didn’t think we’d get another chance to get back in the top flight any time soon - how wrong I was!
+2 on the football side, that’s when it most felt we were destined to be non-league residents like Mansfield or Hartlepool. Stewards were dicks that day too. All-round horrible trip.
That one did for me, stood outside Wembley where not long before we had all come together en masse to show the minus 30 would not kill us off, thinking "that's it, we're here forever...they succeeded" The lows and the highs, days like that are what made 2023 so fantastic.
