Everyone blaming Sweet
Posted by ChangeComing on 21/2/2026, 21:26:51
As much as everyone’s looking for a fall guy he doesn’t kick a ball when the whistles blown.
A lot more accountability needs to be held to the guys who are advising him instead of just blaming him?
What utter rubbish. He was only on TV because broadcasters asked him for interviews etc. In case you haven't noticed we're in LG1 now and broadcasters aren't particularly interested!!Farige is a Complete Tosser
That’s not how it works as a CEO you take the praise and the flack. He didn’t shy away from the prem promotion praise if we remember…
I don’t want him gone, but we need change on the football side, you can’t spunk this amount of funds we have and serve up todays dross performance and say carry on as is…
Completely fair point, just seems a “cop out” to blame him when he is nothing more than a fan who got involved with the club.
He’s obviously got advisors who have let him down and have got things wrong. The likelihood is we will never know who these people are but I find it difficult to just blame Sweet for the lads on pitch not performing when (in my opinion) it’s a combination of problems.
The problem is his salary is out in the open. We have changed managers, players etc. And we are getting worse. And he is the CEO who has appointed managers, signed players etc
He had a lot of goodwill, which is rapidly expiring or has expired. If you take that sort of salary as a CEO of a mid table league 1 club, you need results to justify it or the "shareholders" (the fans effectively as a football club as its not like other businesses ) will ask questions.
For anyone who argues that on field results are beyond his control - he took a big bonus and continues to take an enhanced pay cheque on the back of PL promotion. Fair enough. People get paid on results . To continue taking such a salary whiel overseeing such a steep decline while dodging meetings is questionable to say the least.
We expect a player on a high salary to do a decent job (optimistic). Why do we not hold a CEO to the same account? Why was Stephen Browne removed? The majority investors put their money in for years so deserve to reap a reward. Sweet hasnt but is getting a bigger reward. The ground is vital of course, but being CEO means you need to keep the fans to fill it.
Where is his salary for this season out in the open?
We know his salary for previous seasons has been published, and indeed his bonus payments misinterpreted by some. But where is it documented for this season? The truth is simple. If it was complicated, everyone would understand it.
