I have decided to retire at 67

Was thinking earlier .maybe 65 . Several pensions to call on and it will mean more trips south .
A lot of people are doing the same. Someone said to me once you get to about 55 you’ve just had enough of work and it just becomes a slog Only caveat is , you need to make sure you’ve got enough things to do to fill the time , particularly this time of year when the weathers crap Does your Wife work ?
Don't worry about not being busy, there's those jobs and projects you never got round to, if you have kids and grand kids they will keep you busy plus join the national trust English heritage or a zoo pass plenty to do, I also got myself a bass guitar I'm pretty shit at it but ideal for bad weather days, happy retirement to you
Best bit of advice on this as far as I'm concerned.
One of my best friends at work clung on until he as 70. He died of a heart attack a month after he finally retired.
Clearing his desk out I found the tickets he had booked for him and his wife for what he had previously told me was their dream cruise to the Norwegian Fjords.
You still carrying all the extra weight? losing that would be your best decision to make, couple of my friends have died of late all carried extra weight - you can only abuse the body so long. Kick up my arse that was for sure. 15 kg down this year.
I think there are some figures that show people retiring at 67 only live an average of 18 months or something like that so you could be partially correct.
The actuarial age is a lot higher because that will include all the public sector workers who retire at 45 on a full pension….just joking Bodger 😁
Btw do you call yourself bodger1 because there is another bodger on here 😂
I think I read it somewhere but just looked and nothing to substantiate it. Retirement imo is a difficult decision even if you know you have enough money. Plenty of clients I have struggled with it …think the sense of not being “needed “ anymore.
