Pub boss backs not paying as much tax shocker. He also backed brexit quite heavily and put brexit backing leaflets in his pubs. Then realised he had no staff as they were all European..

The Spoons in Harrogate is probably the poshest one I’ve been in.

A far land away from the Whitehouse.

When I was house hunting in Leighton Buzzard, the only “hotel” in the town centre was the local Spoons. Perfectly nice hotel, as well as obv the continuing cheap booze and Walkers now I live here.
Other great pubs in LB are available, but sometimes a disgustingly cheap pint will suffice. And yes, airport breakfasts at 4am are always a winner.

I think it is a good idea , who doesn’t want cheap beer, but how do they fund it.?
That is a lot of tax revenue to make up.

At the moment Reform have just given the broad statement that they will cut back on green energy, and will cut waste in public services and cut foreign aid.

For them to be credible they need to start showing figures.

They are definitely good at the big headline stuff.

Labour need to sort their shit out quickly to avoid the oncoming disaster, not that I think Labour are doing well, but they are the least shit.

So its back to the slave pens for everyone WFH.

What are all the employers, who have downsized thanks to people WFH, going to do about office space?

From my perspective, if you are meeting targets set by your management, what does it matter when and where you work?

The one benefit of Farage's absolutely thick as mince and mistimed attack on people wfh is that young mothers and fathers who are juggling with work and expensive childcare will avoid him and his hard-right, Reform fellow travellers with a barge pole. The idiot has shot himself in the foot. Which is fair enough

Fact is, hybrid working is more productive. There’s a lot of a job where it’s more sensible to have face-to-face meetings. Equally, when workers are able to work from home - and given the trust to do so - they’re more productive. It’s also obviously cheaper for travel and you don’t get the arseache of commuting.
Nearly every FMCG business now uses a 3:2/2:3 mix of wfh/office, and they’re only doing so as it increases productivity, not lessening it.

Exactly, talk about "nanny state" stuff, Nigel Farage telling businesses how they should run everything.

It really is an embarrassingly stupid policy, but it 's typical of them trying to curry favour through division.

Lol, you try so hard, now you're reaching back to Covid. I'm not sure how much more desperate you could actually sound.

Problem is, even making you look stupid is getting deadly dull, so you spout off whatever you want to and I'll get on with preparing the shots I took of the gig at the weekend for the band.

You toddle off and have your cocoa if that's your thing.

If that is the case, then the managers are also sitting at home tossing off.

It really does not take much to monitor progress on work and dial in for a teams meeting or phone call.

As I said earlier, if you are meeting the targets set by management, what does it matter where and when you work?

I'm sure there are plenty hitting targets.
Unfortunately plenty spend alot of their time at home doing as little as possible.
Not good for ones mental health to be stuck at home all day either I suspect.

OK, at the expense of repeating myself, what are their management doing?

It is their job to monitor and support their staff; if they are not doing that, then the company deserves to fail.

It is far too easy for a politician to make these statements about lazy staff, when the solution is right there.
