    Any recommendations?

    Particularly around the areas of Skopje and Pristina.

      Skopje is lovely - splendidly rebuilt after the dreadful earthquake about 40 years ago.
      Local beer (Skopsko I think) is among the best lagers you will find.
      Pristina is interesting and well worth a visit.
      And the whole country is scenically beautiful, with good food and friendly people.

          Been to both. Very scenic and 1970’s.
          Kosovo reputedly the poorest country in Europe but it doesn’t look that way. Love the Brits too.
          Lake Matka worth a visit on a nice day. City is full of huge statues and government buildings. Don’t eat too cheap or look at anything that resembles a cheap steak.
