Vonn had been unsure what her knee was capable of withstanding but had targeted the downhill - saying she would try no matter the outcome - while also being entered in the super-G and team events.
It is now unlikely she will compete in those, meaning her Olympic career has almost certainly come to a devastating end.
It's only an ACL and fractured leg - why wouldn't she compete in them

I wouldn`t say she tried to make it all about herself. She finished the earlier rounds in a strong position despite her injury. No idea if the crash was related to her injury or not, but i`d say her decision to compete was a personal one, not a look at me one. Bit ill advised yeah - sort of like Kevin Nicholls putting himself on the pitch at Wembley though. Long term it could fuck you but is it worth that one final chance at glory?
