Last three managers
Posted by Ninja on 28/1/2026, 8:01:10
Have started to wilt at the first sign of pressure. Things went pear shaped with Rob, Matt and now Jack showing signs of cracking early on and making references to culture and lots being wrong.
Many said we needed a manager with experience and backbone to shake this properly and sort it.
Another experiment gone wrong and who is the common denominator overseeing football strategy and managerial decisions?!

I assume, during the manager recruitment process, questions would have been asked during interviews (of every manager we have employed, not just Wilshere) that went along the lines of "What is your footballing philosophy? / What is your playing style and identity?" and "what would you do if that philosophy is not getting results?" or "what is your Plan B?". And other stuff around improving players, what type of player does he prefer to work with, etc, etc, etc
I would further assume that the answers provided were satisfactory to the interviewer(s) because Wilshere (and others) got the job
We've been shit* under 3 managers, 2 of which are now managing at a higher level (although I think the Bloomfield appt was a case of right man, wrong time)
It's always a bit of a lottery employing a manager, we should have learnt from the John Still appointment, when things are bad, get in someone who has seen it,done it and can cope with it. Not sure who that would be but they must be out there.A Warnock type would shake this club up, though not sure the club could deal with it.
I'm sure Wilshere would have answered with a 'my style is a possession based approach learned through my coaching badges and time at Arsenal etc.'
And the club went 'that sounds great. That will work perfectly with the players we have here who were bought to play in a more direct, aggressive style of player with the club being so successful recently playing the complete opposite style of football to what you've just described.
But we completely trust a rookie manager to change the entire culture of the football club with little input over transfers. Saj did a work experience at Chelsea, so he's much better at controlling who we signed.
Anyway, you started your footballing journey here aged 8,Jack, so here's your 4 year contract.'
I believe Sweet has said they didn't interview anyone other than Bloomfield? Also, can't believe we could have interviewed too many others before deciding to appoint a manager with no real experience. Another failed experiment. Player recruitment is atrocious and manager recruitment is even worse. I wonder?
