So woudl guess -Brown (high wages and mainly a bench player - loan or sell) -Gbode (not getting a look in - loan) -Nordas - outside bet but oddly behind wellyates - and with Al Hamadi and Elijah due back may be further pushed down

Possible. A lower end championship may see him as a decent option. Just doesn`t really fit into our system - not a lone striker, and we have a million wingers.
3 squad spaces (if Baptiste isnt registered) That could go down to 1 - Holmes coming back and Archer. Nakamba - would anyone take him? If not may pay up his contract if we cant or wont use him in the league (see Outsider comments on appearances though so could be some unknown reason why he doesnt make the league squad that ahs nothing to do with bonus payments)
If you have a player who can`t go elsewhere - then it makes sense to give yourself the option. If you remember the PL season we had a run of injuries on CB`s and ended up registering Fred and played him there as no choice. It would be amiss to have a CB on the books and not have him available
So let’s not fill the squad with better players that we actually need and instead register a player we didn’t want and Rotherham don’t want - while still aiming to finish second in the league????
It makes sense to leave squad place free - can register him if needed. Dependent on who leaves and who we can get in. You would be the first to mona if we get that sort of CB crisis we had we have a CB who we can`t play. Not that I`m advocating any CBs
Possibly, that he is no longer up to League 1 football. He looked OK (nothing more) against Brighton under 21s and a weakened Exeter team. I would love to see the ability that he had when he signed but, unfortunately, I think that that may be his limit now.
I know that you could argue that he has played three full games at AFCON but, as someone pointed out, Frankie Musonda is out there and he hasn't had a club for eight months.
