Seeing as the recruitment team apparently love their data

    Wells vs. Rotherham.

    17 touches of the ball.
4 passes played. Only 2 successful.
    Zero shots.

Yates and Wells combined have made 24 league appearances. 2 goals.

Not really promotion form is it?

Well as he's played ~540 career games I'd expect anyone with a modicum of data literacy not to use a dataset of 1 game to judge him.

Averages just shirt of 1 goal in 5 in his career. He's now athe end of his career so obviously it'll be less than that going forward.

Feel free to add some data that makes him look a good signing though....

Therein lies the problem, the tools for analysing this kind of thing are not free. Feel free to grant me access if you have it, I'd love to get involved.

The only data that is relevant are goals conceded, goals scored and assists. Everything else is bo11ocks and solely there to keep staff who don't know 5h1t from clay in employment.

        Assists are nonsense as well.

Ross Barkley got an assist last season for a 5 yard pass in the centre circle when Duran scored from 30 yards

£49m parachute payments in 2024/25 and £40m at the end of this season - approximately. We're like a lottery winner who has had sod all money all their life but got by and lived happily. Now we have so much money we are clueless how to spend it and it's bringing misery.

Recruitment has been piss poor and it broke down at every level to get us to this point. But we have so much money we must spend big this January window to get in at least one quality striker and the best possible midfielder we can get. Otherwise we'll stay in this division, stagnate and it'll be harder to recruit and retain.

We've been absolutely shocking in the £2-£5M bracket. You'd hope that a few of the players bought for that amount would be developed and sold for £10-£15M. This is how Brentford have developed over the last ten years.

I'm not sure if we have made significant profit on any of the players we have bought with the Prem windfall.

Ogbene and Barkley - both signed on a free, sold for a combined £13m

The point is, since we've had money to spend on players we've not sold any on for profit.

All I can recall hearing is that £25m of the EPL money will be diverted to PC. If someone has heard differently then please say. In the meantime, we must have a huge chunk of unspent money available. The January window is crucial. As bbb says, can we trust the recruitment team with it bearing in mind their piss poor efforts in recent times.

But would you want the current recruitment team involved on spending 'big'?

I wouldn't trust them to choose the correct food for a goldfish.

With a massive asterisk by that “Two goals” stat that they were both penalties. In the same game. Which we lost. #data #optajoe #recruitmentteam #kenilworthroadlosses #thatfreetransferthirtyfiveyearoldisdoingjustgreat

And £2.5 million Nordas can't get a game ahead of Wells or Yates. In fact, he couldn't even make the bench last week
