Worse display by a Luton captain?
Posted by Cuba on 19/10/2025, 8:45:33
Can’t think of any worse than that Naismith yesterday.
Even called out explicitly by Luke on 3CR post match as how bad he was.
In the second half his body language was atrocious, when he could be bothered to run he ran into a Mansfield player and when he had the ball be just gave it away time and time again.
He didn’t step in an intervene when Wells and Gideon were arguing about who was taking the penalty.
He was not vocal or showed any leadership in trying to recover from the second goal
Have to question, like so many others, what has happened to him/them, how can previously decent players seem so lazy and indifferent.
We know what a proper captain and leader looks like, why has the club allowed those leaders (Locks, Bez, Pelly etc) to go without replacing with someone with more character.
Throwing out this now, would Nigel Clough (let alone his father) work for club that has developed such a deep rooted egocentricity?
Clough did what was required yesterday, set up a very attractive hard working team and barked instructions for 95 minutes without any show, gamesmanship or aggression.
If JW needed inspiration on how he needs to manage he could do a damn sight worse.
It was about the culture of the club being able to develop as it has that has created the opportunity for such laziness and poor attitudes to go unchecked.
The buck stops with the CEO.
Until this is addressed I seriously worry how we progress.
My original point was whether a more experienced manager than RE and MB would have allowed this to develop.

you made a comparison to clough. that warranted a response about clough.
Fair enough I did, but the context was about whether “the Cloughs” would have allowed such a deep rooted egocentricity to develop.
I know you are thousands of miles away now and don’t get to suffer the toothless football we are enduring in the flesh, it is as most are saying the worse football most of has ever paid to watch.
And yet a well seasoned Manager like Clough with a very tiny budget and allegedly lesser players got those players playing like a team and beat us with ease. How many your players looked better than their Mansfield counterparts?
I'm 100% up for supporting JW and co for the whole of this season. Can you remember a harder watch in the past 15 years? We all need to have a decent drink or two before facing it. I stopped drinking in January and it isn't helping.
Hoping you're right mate, but I have a horrible feeling about this season and not sure a lad with 2 years management experience of an under 18 side is going to be able to deal with it.
