Recruitment under our CEO’s watch and JW

Posted by Ninja on 18/10/2025, 18:12:11

I still cannot fathom the utter failure of recruitment - it’s so shocking. The first relegation recruitment was bad enough, but this season has been the worst by far. We’ve been left with an unbalanced, weak as piss bunch of players. All after ‘lessons learned’ etc from DW. In the absence of a DoF it is the CEO’s responsibility. You want control then you take accountability when it is a catastrophic failure. GS should have done the right thing and resigned if the board aren’t strong enough to move him aside from football matters. Utter embarrassment and a waste of money.

The board’s lack of backbone and oversight is a serious worry. Their naivety and weakness has been laid bare.

The result today is not on JW and nor will the rest of this season. He’s been dealt a a terrible hand and an achievement would be keeping us up. Can you even believe that? Relegation candidates to head to league 2 after being in the premier league and having some of the highest revenue of all clubs below the top tier.

      People are so stupid!

Who appointed MB? An inexperienced manager and trusted him to build this squad?

Decent executive and board oversight doesn’t enable this shit show.

        Who appointed Matt Bloomfield??

The very same people who appointed Nathan Jones who arrived at Luton with nothing more than 2 games as a standin manager for BHA.

Clearly GS calls the shots regardless of who puts the money up front.

Can anyone provide a conducive counter argument to that?

yes of course the CEO identified all the players that Bloomfield had on loan at Wycombe or identified from his years at this level.

The recruitment even when we got promoted to the Prem was poor, RB aside. Those that questioned it were shouted down saying we were recruiting a championship super team incase if/when we got relegated. Those guys then flopped in the championship, as did 2 managers.

Now we're in league one and anyone who is half decent has left. And they've been replaced by a team (JC aside) of spineless, uninterested journeyman and injury prone clowns. The signings of Nordas and Fanne are astounding. They offer nothing, Yet commanded decent transfer fees. Who the hell is highlighting these clowns and sanctioning the deals??? They need sacking immediately.

It will probably take JW 2 windows to clear out the shit and bring some fresh blood in. So that's this season and probably next written off for rebuilding. So much for 'learning our lessons'.

              Agreed.

I can’t believe more people aren’t seething. It’s going down as one of the biggest falls from grace in football history, but we should be thankful our club was saved and ignore utter failure.

Those that shouted down those genuine concerns really didn’t do anyone any favours.

Yep agree, after witnessing the second half we look certain to be in another relegation battle.
Clinging to the hope that Jones and Hamadi will be back soon and we can somehow unearth a couple of decent loans.

It's not just us who suffer relegation from the premiership blues, Ipswich are falling almost as fast as we did despite spending £120+ million to stay up.

And Norwich, who turned down Wilshere as manager as being too inexperienced to challenge for promotion to the premiership. Today they lost their sixth consecutive home match at Carrow Road.

                  Newell to Norwich ?
